My advice to Kieran Powell.

You are a way better player of spin. Reinvent yourself as a middle order batsman and bat at 4/5.

My only advice to him is to come back to the PCL and spend some time at the crease. He was never ready when they recalled him in the first place. You said it, and so did I.

Well that is true but after several tours he should have been ready by now. He averages 28.33 at opening in 52 innings. He averages 46.30 only in 2 innings not a large enough sample to work with but it was against India in India.

Suh dem seh Hety is better suited at the middle and now Powell in the middle too, so who is going to open and occupy the #3 spots?

Devon Smith for the opening position. Hope can bat 3. Bravo is obviously no longer interested in playing Test cricket.

Bravo is badly missed in this series and the English series,he was needed,we now know how good he was for the Windies, still though, people cuss the boy all de time.

How about this deal....

The only way Devon Smith comes back into the team is if Shiv comes back as well at the same time.

What say you. Deal or no deal? cool

I said that years ago... that Powell was being pushed into an opening position when he would be much more productive in the middle order. But that was when we had other options to open the batting. Right now there are few obvious options around. Lewis might have been a consideration but now he has got the T20 bug.

Montcin Hodge has been putting up some good numbers in the past two years but I am very wary of his technique.

It's funny how Hodge became an on side player, when he was young I remember him hitting spinners over cover for six at will in the Stanford t20.

I like Hodge as an opener and think his technique is well suited for the longer formats. he doesn't play too many shots away from his body but prefers to score from straighter balls through the on side. He doesn't rotate the strike well enough though...

Remember Devon Smith tried dat....then there was an opening spot in the WI again....but Smith was experimenting in the midle order in dung heap....I believe he still got a shot at opening again

True. He played well on both sides of the wicket. He can still play offside but seems very limited.
