Serious question? 4 bowlers in ODIs

DIEHARD 2017-12-19 21:33:44

And three in tests.

In the modern ODI game..we shorten the batting for an ODI..and have Holder at 8 in tests.

Does this make any.. cricket sense?

Who signed off on this?

My concerns exactly.
cool
Who are the on tour selectors?

If Holder is going to bowl nine or ten overs then one of the bowlers could have been left out for a batsman.

If Holder was a more consistent batsman he would fit nicely into an allrounder position and it would be easier to construct the team. But I am more confident in his economical bowling than his ability to score runs.

Who are the on tour selectors?

Only one selector travels with the team during tours. So I imagine the selector on tour and the coach would have more influence on team selection

What could be the logic behind it.

How are we to score 300+ with the number 6,7,8 we just played in that game.

Can anyone figure out that team composition

As usual, when you make a bits and pieces players who does not command a place in the team, you will end up compromising on the balance of the team.

We saw that already with Sammy and now we are doing the same with Holder.

The Test team is alright in terms of balance, Holder holds his own as a bowler despite what some of you may say.

However this ODI team is so wrong and had been for a while now. Too many bowlers who cannot bat. 3 tail enders from, 1 lower order bat, 2 all rounders who cannot make the team as batsmen. Players with bowling ability being unused in the XI.

The team should have 2 specialist bowlers, 3 at most.

Bats - Hopes, Gayle, Hety, Lewis, Ambris, Darren B
Bat/Part time bowler - Mohammed, Paint
Batting Allrounder - Pollard, Chase, Samuels, Campbell
Allrounder - Rovwell, Russell
Bowling Allrounder - Holder, Reifer, Mayers, Cornwall, Paul
Lower Order Bat Bowler - Nurse, Narine, Odean Smith,
Bowler - Gabriel, Roach, Williams, Beaton, Bishoo, Miller

More players out there but these are just who I can think off now.

Team:

Gayle
Lewis
Sope
Hety
Mohammed
Ambris/Darren B(Kope)
Rovwell
Holder
Cornwall
Williams/Roach/Nurse/Beaton
Gabriel

Lacking that batting allrounder so I'll just go with the extra bat.
Holder, Cornwall and the bowlers gives u 40 overs. Rovwell and Mohammed can make up 10.

I would ask him to concentrate on his batting

Running in fast and furious...showing a lot of legs and arms...and delivering slow donkey drops is not going to cut it in modern day cricket...that bowling is not going trouble #11 batsmen

What is the purpose of a selector on tour?

Holder does hold his own as bowler these days..in Tests..but if you gonna shorten a batting line up..u do it in Tests..to give u self a chance at getting 20 wickets.

U lengthen u batting in ODIS..cos these days..all bowlers are cannon fodder..but we do it the other way round..makes no damn sense.

I'd much prefer that team composition last night..be used in tests!!!

Holder doesn't run in fast and furious. But look at his numbers; he holds his own.

W'appen to Reifer? I like his approach to boling and batting. He is a thinking cricketer. Should be in the mix.
