Stupid, bad pitches produce inferior players not capable of competing at the highest level.

It is the Infrastructure
In reply to Runs
I had a post a few years ago on the said subject. Pitch preparation is a science yet the curators probably cant even spell science.Batsmen need good pitches to hone their skills, likewise pace bowlers require pitches that give them some encouragement. Slow low pitches are good only to spin bowlers and often serve to flatter their abilities.
the curators probably cant even spell science. Lmao. U could be right, doc!

Fix our pitches first
Players are being inadequately prepared

Psychological make-up. The will power is not there.
In reply to jcveletta
Tell them star! Willpower to succeed is missing!
That also, but I have seen Jason Mohammed handle a shortball and get out as a schoolboy might have, clueless.
Also, many could not negotiate short pitched bowling during the tests, says to me that they are not prepared to combat it.
It is a well known weakness of West Indian batsmen and opposing teams expose them over and over. I am yet to see anything being done to address this issue by powers that be to prepare our batsmen.
In reply to Runs
Could it be making this team too easy? No competition for keeping your place due to quantity of mediocre players who are prematurely being bigged up by their insular fans! The players these days cannot play cricket proper.
In reply to Runs I see you have jumped on the donkey cart with the rest...wi players aren't competitive or good enough or the current bunch!?
In reply to BeatDball
If you do a study you will notice the few guys who were successful bstsmen worked hard at their game and also played a lot of international games with and without the WI team. Yes, we have produced some natural talent, but because of inadequate resources we have seldom managed to transition them into the finished product, as other nations have done and continue to do. A lot of factors are to be blamed, including poor pitches is my feeling. Both for bowling and batting.
We need to mimic successful teams, look at their preparation comprehensively from under 19 and so forth.
In reply to Runs Well, I just hope WICB take heed & start with the pitches/grounds. WI have to be competitive.....fact.

Three ingredients Runsy:
1. Grit/Determination
2. Growth mindset
3. Entrepreneurial spirit to succeed
All three missing from the modern day WI cricketer.
