Cricket: Black Caps trounce West Indies to complete ODI sweep

New Zealand trounced the West Indies by 66 runs in the final one-day international to keep alive their unbeaten record across eight matches in the format at Hagley Oval.

The hosts took the series 3-0 and left the tourists looking despondent and disoriented at the chasm between the sides' respective skill levels.

The West Indies were out of the contest within 3.5 of the 23 available overs when their top order crumbled to nine for five.

Holder: We settled well with the ball. Unfortunately, we lost wickets and lost the momentum. We have to give ourselves a bit of chance. With the ball swinging, it is not that easy. Still some work needs to be done in the bowling.

The first of three Twenty20s begins in Nelson on Friday.

Tests are done and so are the ODIs. Windies have been made to look like a mediocre team by the hosts. But now we will have the T20Is, a format which is Windies fiefdom, they say. Will the World Champions end the year on a high or will the story continue to follow the same pattern

Will we hit rock bottom after these three T20"s?

redface redface

We will be whitewashed in the T20s as well. Our strongest T20 team is not there. Same bunch of losers.
