Intel Processor Bug Leaves All Current Chips Vulnerable And Its Fix Saps Performance
If an Intel processor from the last decade is powering your desktop, laptop or other PC, or perhaps servers in your data center, chances are youre going to have to deal with a new vulnerability and hardware-level chip bug that is currently out in the wild.
As Brandon Hill at HotHardware reports, the bug also affects virtually all operating systems from Windows, to Linux and MacOS. Further, and this is perhaps the worst part, the software patch for whatever OS youre currently running, will bleed off system performance by as much as 30 percent.

Hardware flaw or marketing gimmick?
Now everyone has to buy a new computer!!

time for a lawsuit similar to what happened to Apple.
Forget the speed slow down, what a revelation that a "bug" exposes and allows access to kernel memory data. Hmmmm. THAT should be the red flag - not just the hit to the CPU speed performance.
"The security bug could be present on Intel processors manufactured over the past 10 years." - really now - 10 years of potential kernel leaks
Translation: hacking [on behalf of big brother and 'others'] past present and future is here to stay.

You are on that bandwagon now?
Apple did the right thing in the circumstances IMHO

They did - of course they did [in terms of addressing the battery/OS freeze problem] - the caveat though is they did not DISCLOSE to users that the OS software update would slow down the phones.

You know, no one would know a thing if not for benchmarking because it had virtually no effect on the user experience.
I suppose some people just like notifications and that kinda stuff, I dont. I just wants something that works without getting in my way.

Nah man, people in large numbers complained about "my phone seems slower"
