MOUNT MAUNGANUI, New Zealand (CMC) – West Indies Under-19 captain, Emmanuel Stewart, says he regrets the appeal which led to the controversial dismissal of South African opener Jiveshan Pillay, during yesterday’s ICC Youth World Cup fixture here.Following the contest at Bay Oval which Young Windies lost by 76 runs, Stewart said while his decision has been within the laws of cricket, it did not reflect the spirit of the game.“I asked the question and it was given out based on the laws and the rules of the game,” Stewart said.
But on reflection it wasn’t in the spirit of the game. I think moving forward I would have withdrawn the appeal and that’s how I see it.”

I wonder how much international cricket the WI youth captain and the other members of the team look at, if they did any amount of viewing, they should have known that what they appeal for was against the spirit of the game before they appealed.

Stop your BS. You look at premier look football and big bash and every day big errors are made.

This kid lives cricket and despite his limited returns so far with the bat...I'll be surprised if he doesn't turn into a big bat. More qualities than I've seen in years.

He is captain for a reason. This kid is far ahead of his peers understanding the game. Way ahead of his peers as a leader despite what those the parochial a holes here thinks.

Really?

You must be related to this kid. You are an example of why the more things change the more they remain the same in the Caribbean.

Keep up the good work, keep on rewarding and praising mediocrity. See where that leads to in five years from today.

At 15 you are still a kid and learning what is acceptable and what is not. I can and will excuse a fifteen year old for certain indiscretions.

At 19 years old you must be able to exhibit a modicum of common sense in situations where you are showcasing your leadership abilities to the entire cricketing world.

The 19 year old West Indies captain lacked that common sense. It was there for the whole world to see and judge.

Of course there will be deniers like yourself who will bury your heads in the sand when and wherever common sense is required.
