We contacted some of our well-known senior cricketers to ascertain their availability for the tournament and we are pleased that Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels have indicated their full support and commitment to the cause. Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Darren Bravo and Andre Russell however indicated that they were unavailable to help us qualify as their priority was playing in the Pakistan Super League

So PSL is important for these guys lol

Pollard, Narine, Bravo & Russell shouldn't be picked for ODI'S for the foreseeable future.

You infidels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Atl_View Jan 25, 2018, 10:14:29 AM

Does it really matter???? Why blame these guys for making some money?
We are not asking for them to participate in the actual World Cup with the other major cricketing nations.
This is a useless exercise to go to the big event just to check a box.
With our level of play these days how will we get past Afghanistan? Please let us at least have a face saving excuse that not all of our stars a re available.

sgtdjones Jan 25, 2018, 10:16:22 AM

Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Darren Bravo and Andre Russell

It should matter.

They'll be available for the World Cup though when there is no T/20 being played.

VIX Jan 25, 2018, 10:33:42 AM

PSL players got their priorities right!

Kay Jan 25, 2018, 10:34:10 AM

Wait the big bat Lewis didn't pick up any food in PSL? smile

Why would any India player go play in the Pakistan Suicide League and not represent their nation?

analyst-kid Jan 25, 2018, 10:45:55 AM

In reply to WICFan

....AND YET WHEN THE Pak players were playing in CPL, THEY HAD TO ABANDON THEIR TEAMS and report back to Pakistan on request from their governing board.

dayne Jan 25, 2018, 10:49:52 AM

Interesting selections, Samuels, Hetmyer, I would have selected Chase for either one of them, however the team should have enough to qualify. The WI cricket Board has created a low moral environment with the top WI players.

Khaga Jan 25, 2018, 10:50:23 AM

In reply to Atl_View

If WI don't manage to qualify, WI will miss out on a big chunk of money given to the WC participants. It's a sizable chunk for the CWI. They already missed out on the Champions trophy 2017.

You sound confident..Do you think WI will make the finals of this qualifying tournament that's most likely to feature WI,Zim,Afg and Ireland in the last four?

dayne Jan 25, 2018, 11:02:06 AM

In reply to Khaga

As a Fan, I am hoping they qualify, I am confident they could make the finals.

AKA the military - or they probably risked being shot!

Thankfully, our players live in robust democracies where their individual rights are enshrined in our constitutions

Khaga Jan 25, 2018, 11:07:19 AM

The group of players traveling to PSL seems to suggest they risk being shot at home, not by the military ofcourse!

gvenkat Jan 25, 2018, 11:26:48 AM

I looked at the format. It's a long drawn out format( 4 league games, 3 Super Six games) and top 4 teams go to semis and the two finalists qualify.

Even if WI make some false starts I think they will still make it to the semis and Will bring their A game to win that unless they choke on Semifinal day to Afghanistan lol lol lol

It begs the question are they allowed to?

Or will their home be stoned and burned down?

Our lil Islands and Guyana democracy reigns supreme.
