In 1987 WC

Walsh asked PAK batsmen back, after he refused to Mankad him

WI lost and did not qualify

1996 WC- Chanders out, WI lost vs OZ by 5 runs after being in command

1999 WC - did not advance due to RR even though Steve Waugh tried to help them

2003 WC in SA - rained out vs Bang - Kenya advanced

Previous ICC tourney - WI lost wicket in last over(?Pollard) - DL rate went up, WI did not advance - by 1 run I think.

you can add the rest ...

2018 - WI QUALIFY after winning by 5 runs - DL!!

I say about FREAKING time the luck and the rain gods came to us

big grin big grin big grin

Sealed and deposited!

WC here WE COME!

who do you think Pak, Bang, SA etc would prefer to play - WI or Scotland?

We can still beat anybody on a given day!!

At least now, I can watch the WC without getting depressed

Great!

And it will still be exciting

with a real change of winning regardless of the opponent!

Not so sure about that. The England win last year after Lewis bladed 176 really highlighted how shallow our team is. Would take a lot of stars aligning to beat England or India in a 50 over. Saffies, Aus and NZ seem a few light years ahead of us too. Realistically Narine and Bravo aren't coming back, and I'm not sure Pollard and Russell add enough to the team to bridge that gap.

All that said, I hope you're right and I'm wrong.

It won't be exciting if Windies start the World Cup losing their first 4 or 5 games. Would be even more depressing seeing them play out the string of meaningless matches if they're eliminated from semi final contention early. Here's hoping they turn it around.

Yes - this team is not methodical especially through the middle overs but in the shorter format 2 or 3 big performances can win a big match

Being in the park is still better than being at home

you still have a chance

That is why they play it
