HEADLINE: Browne defends puzzling selections for Pakistan tour

West Indies' chairman of selectors Courtney Browne has defended his panel's decision-making process, stating that "selectors' judgment is based on sound selection criteria" in light of the depleted squad chosen for the three-match Twenty20 International series in Pakistan starting on Sunday (April 1).

Browne, who took over from the legendary Clive Lloyd in 2016, commenced his controversial chairmanship stint by sacking double World Cup-winning captain Darren Sammy, developed a policy trend in last two years that has left many Windies fans, media and possibly players generally befuddled.

He made a rare public media comment outside his usual press statements via Cricket West Indies communications emails.

Browne was asked to clarify with both regular captains Carlos Brathwaite and Jason Holder as to why Jason Mohammed was chosen to be captain for the Pakistan series when he was dropped during World Cup qualifiers, over the recalled Denesh Ramdin, who leads Mohammed in domestic cricket for Trinidad & Tobago.

Interesting article, but I think Browne did not have much options with the selection of this team, many players are either committed to other contracts or do not want to go to Pakistan. However, the question about Cornwall being in an International T20 game at this time is borderline ridiculous, his agility and fitness will always be an issue for that hectic type of match.

Browne is weak and coward person who is afraid to come in front of the equally weak and mediocre WI sports "journalists."

Imagine Ramdin, who is arguably the best cappo, was recalled but not given the opportunity to lead, but Jason Mohammed, who couldn't buy a run and was dropped, is now the captain.

Jason Holder must be fired along with Carlos for failing to show up for work

is further example how the selection panel of Browne, Travis Dowlin & Eldine Baptiste rewards mediocrity and has devalued the West Indies captaincy by allowing any player to have the job without merit.

There he is!
Always wondered about this chap devoid of talent who made it all the way to the top by hard work and dedication.

There may be a logical explanation as to why the selection panel can't pick a captain or a team. Maybe the captain and the team were picked by another person or persons. Maybe Messers Browne, Dowlin and Baptiste are mere puppets.

To Browne, I say: right train wrong track. His system is perfectly logical but conceptually flawed.
