HEADLINE: Russell returns to Windies squad for charity T20I against ROW

Big-hitting Andre Russell has been named in the Windies squad for the fundraising T20I against a Rest of the World side, marking the Jamaican's return to international cricket after a doping violation ban. Russell last played for the Windies against India in August 2016 before a whereabouts clause violation under the World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) led to his lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Besides Russell, the 13-man squad also sees the return for offspinner Ashley Nurse, who played earlier this year in New Zealand, while other first-team regulars Chris Gayle, Evin Lewis and Marlon Samuels were reinstated after missing the series in Pakistan. Denesh Ramdin and Keemo Paul kept their places in the side following encouraging recent form. Interestingly, Jason Mohammed, who captained the side in the three games at Karachi, has been dropped with regular captain Carlos Brathwaite taking over the reins of the side once more.

I know Samuels played badly but he still played.

Sick of these petty vindictive forkers...
Did Pollard, Bravo, Narine and Simmons decline selection, or did the selectors decide to do a bit of tit for tat and not invite them as this match might promote them too much?
Rayad Emrit > DJB?
Is either of Samuels, Fletcher or Powell better than Pollard or Simmons?
Is Nurse better than Narine?
I will have to assume the Trinis left out declined selection, nothing else justifies it, petty vindictive behaviour by "leaders" who supposed to know better, be the bigger men

Samuels better than both Pollard and Simmons. He has 2 WC MVP as proof.
Is Nurse better than Narine?
As I recall, Narine made himself unavailable last time around.

Surely u jest, that was the broken clock being right twice a day.
Why is Pollard in year round demand on the T-20 circuit, and Samuels not?
As I recall, Narine made himself unavailable last time around.
Did he make himself unavailable..this time?
If not..whats the relevance..point still stands...petty and vindictive grown men..old enough to be these young men's fathers..some of dem might be grandfathers..and i bet they might even call themselves Christians..and good people..smh

As far as I know, even Samuels' club teammates at Melbourne CC don't like the guy. Even his brother Robert thinks he is crazy.
None of that, however, takes away from his 2 WC MVPs.
Pollard has been representing the WI since being picked on the 2007 WC squad. What does he have to show for it?
Ok, I know. He's arguably the most popular player on the world T20 (club) circuit.

400 T-20s averaging 30 with a SR of 150..is not something to be taken lightly

Wouldn't that be fitting. It was on the world stage (the World T20 finals presentation ceremony) that he decided to talk trash of his then employers. We'll wait to see (hear) what he has to offer this time around.

Pollard is a very lucky man to be making big money with his verrrrrry limited talent.

Marlon Samuels probably does not deserve a place in the team, but in English conditions we need his experience. How do the selectors continue to justify Nurse in the team is beyond me. He just got 4 wickets in 8 games in the WC qualifiers for 240 runs against minnows. Narine made himself available but not selected. Absolute madness. How could Fletcher be selected ahead of Pollard? He must have the most ducks for WI. Dwayne Bravo is one of the most sought after T20 players but is not selected.
If these selectors remain, I believe we will lose EVERY GAME at the cricket World Cup in England 2019.

It is only one match for a good cause, why make so much fuss about selection, without knowing the availability of players?

The World XI will be captained by Eoin Morgan with the remainder of the squad to be named in the coming weeks.

So Johnny Graves has confirmed the vindictiveness of these grown men in the CWI.
No invitation was extended to Pollard Bravo or Narine.
Why have the discussion with them now?
After you already overlooked them?

I see people here advocating for Pollard like he is something special.
The man has scored 2 50s in 48 innings for West Indies.

Well to be fair, how many of those selected have got 50 odd opportunities to be equal to or surpass Pollard.
