Guadeloupe: These tiny islands are the French Caribbean's greatest secret
Located within the lower crescent of the Caribbean archipelago between the islands of Montserrat and Dominica, these twin islands and a smaller cluster of satellite islets don't just offer intrepid travelers spectacular white sand beaches.
They also have waterfalls, mountainous rainforests and cultural institutions dedicated to the islands' pre-Hispanic peoples and subsequent slave trade.
From the main islands of Grande-Terre and Basse-Terre, it's just an hour's ferry ride to the tiny islands of La Désirade, Marie-Galante or the islands of Les Saintes to visit for the day trip overnight.
Less developed than its French Caribbean cousins, St. Martin and Martinique, Guadeloupe is also more affordable than pricey St. Barths (Saint-Barthélemy).t's a rich mélange of African, European, Amerindian, pre-Hispanic and Indian cultures, however, that lends Gwada, as locals call Guadeloupe, a certain "je ne sais quoi."

Am so tired of these people calling anything they were previously unaware of a "secret".
So egotistical and condescending.
Using the term 'secret' to sell a headline

Anyhow, very beautiful place. Went twice.
The open market was interesting place, practicing my French with the market ladies.
Beaches and sceneries fantastic..
P.S. Did they put a picture of the nude beach in the article?
I live in the Midwest and asked often if Dominica is beautiful.
My reply is always the same: Every Island in the Caribbean is beautiful! It all depends what you are looking for.
Anguilla is the flattest most monotonous Island I been too, yet there was a charm to the Island wholly unique.
Antigua s not far behind in it's monotony, yet there is a spirit there that is almost enchanting,
Guadeloupe was my first travel experience so it should be the one I romatacize the most, I was 11.
But it is not unlike Dominica in it's flaura and fauna, with a distinct forestry area and a flat easily habitable half, unique. One of the smallest Islands I been to with many high rise buildings, almost on par with San Juan as I remember it.
But not any more enchanting than the other Islands. Everyone experiences things and places differently and beauty is rampant in the Caribbean.
Am an undersell over deliver kinda guy anyway.
