HEADLINE: Denied the opportunity to help Caribbean people - Bravo

CaribbeanCricket.com Apr 25, 2018, 2:18:28 AM

Some of West Indies' best-known players are claiming they were "denied the opportunity to help Caribbean people" by being omitted from the teams involved in the Hurricane Relief game at Lord's.

The charity T20 match between West Indies and a World XI is being staged on May 31 to raise funds to repair five major cricket venues damaged by Hurricanes Irma and Maria. West Indies named a 13-man squad last week and it did feature some big names - Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, Marlon Samuels - but Dwayne Bravo insisted he, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard and Darren Bravo had all hoped to be involved as well. None of them were picked.

"We were denied the opportunity to be a part of something to help Caribbean people in a charity game we wanted to play in and were looking forward to being a part of", Bravo told ESPNcricinfo. "We weren't contacted or selected, so we just want people to know that we were fully available for the game and are seeking answers behind our non-selection."

Mr. Bravo, please feel to make a cash donation!!!

Or you could even sing a song and donate whatever proceeds come from it to charity.

Yard vs Tits.

We haven't had one of these bouts in a while. To the winner goes the spoils (or bragging rights (rites)).

You'll have to admit though, that this event would've been the ideal showplace for a show pony.

You notice the the comments, how sad

This is a fundraiser to help Caribbean countries owing to the effects of hurricanes.

No one has thought of the following:

How easier it would have been for the promoters of this game to sell it to get a bigger TV contract.

The tickets would have sold at higher prices.

End result more money

CWI is a copy of the comments on this thread, clueless
vindictive and insular, a standard in the Caribbean community.

No one is thinking outside of the box , lets get these
players, CWI is in charge.

I will post the headlines from around the globe later,
instead of being praised CWI has allowed such to take away the merits of why the game is being played.

We have seen this team play in a minnow qualifying
tourney and saw the results.

Now they will play against a World team ?

redface redface

No need to preach to me on the failures at the now-relabeled CWI, I'm with ya.

Who's organizing the fund-raiser? It's either ICC itself or CWI itself with help from ICC. Either way, CWI is involved. It would be crazy to expect CWI to suddenly bring Bravo back into the fold for this single event.

Now if ICC was acting independently of CWI in this, then they could have just named a Caribbean Select vs the Rest, or a Americas vs the Rest or a North vs South Hemisphere, whatever, and invited whatever Windies-origin stars they wished. Give it T20I status or whatever, doesn't matter (except for stat-junkies). But CWI would have balked, I imagine.

Bottom line...the top WI players should play

Why?
This is not a T20 tournament, that the best should be selected
Every star could donate to it

Tryangle Apr 25, 2018, 10:48:34 AM

Here's another idea - how about Bravo & Co. lobby the CPL to put on a charity match, again you can have the concept of a Caribbean XI vs Rest of the World. You may not be able to land the so vaunted "T20I" status, but you could count it for professional T20 status.

Didn't the Red Force vs Caribbean match last year do well with regard to raising funds?

The main objective of the WICBC/CWI is not to raise money , but to Punish certain Players .

When they wanted to see those stars, they abandon a tour in India, a cricket mad nation. Go figure....

The game of cricket will survive without them, for every star that goes, a new one emerges. India no longer feel the loss of Tendulkar with Kohli. Before, everyone was like, whose gonna fill his shoes? Steve Smith et al will be replaced.

Maybe they don't want you (Bravo) and your followers to make a mess ot things again. Every time I hear about this guy Bravo, all that comes to mind is the aborted tour of India due to his stupid action, along with his duckling followers. Bravo has soiled the name of West Indies cricket and should never be allowed to represent West Indies again! Unless he decides to pay back all the money that that aborted tour cost the West Indies!

in the Worst International Cricket

I call them the Mimic Men , because of
the fact that they relish behaving like those who founded the WICBC , but were of a different Pigmentation .
