HEADLINE: CWI plans to hold talks with exiled quartet after IPL

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) – Cricket West Indies (CWI) chief executive, Johnny Grave, plans to meet with a quartet of exiled players after the Indian Premier League (IPL), in an attempt to clear up the uncertainty surrounding their availability.

Neither Darren Bravo, older brother Dwayne, Sunil Narine nor Kieron Pollard has played for West Indies in recent times, leading to speculation over their future in the international arena.

But with West Indies facing a heavy upcoming playing schedule, Grave said it was important there was clarity for selectors regarding the four players.

“Darren Bravo has refused selection on a number of occasions now so we can’t continually go back to him every time we have a match and ask if he wants to be part of it,” the Englishman told the Express newspaper here.

Dwayne hasn’t played for quite a while in any of our sides and said he does not see his future playing international cricket. So we’ve asked him for a meeting to see if that is his firm position.”

Who exiled them? There was nothing preventing the majority, if not all, of them from playing in the WC Qualifying Tournament or for that matter against England last year other than themselves.

Why is Jimmy not a part of this meeting? Not fair since he is doing all the hard work to bring the globe trotters back...

My response to another poster below contains the answer to your question.

You seem to be one of the intelligent posters here so read between the lines.

Things are changing for the better. Give it a little time.

The strong leadership of a certain gentleman is bringing everyone together for the betterment of the players, the fans and the organization.

We will see the difference with the team selected for the world cup next year

I am of the opinion that Bravo may have declined selection until his matter with the Board has had a Proper Hearing . In essence Bravo may possibly be acting on the advice of
a Lawyer .

Let's think for a moment

CWI knows about these players and contracts they have signed to play in various leagues.

How many times have we posted on this forum, when will CWI announce the team. WE saw it recently where players signed to play in the PSL, look at the time CWI had in contacting such players and informing them they were selected.

Look at the secrecy in picking a team to play in Pakistan, even the Pakistan Board wondered why such team wasn't made public.

WE have seen the mess in India, sending players without contracts, canceling the tour done by Piebus .BCCI was on the players side went after compensation from CWI and got it . It tells a story doesn't it.

Why are these players eager to play overseas, they are treated as professionals in environment that shows respect.
CWI and its subsidiary WIPA cut wages 50 % then notified players who didn't get a chance to vote. Senior players did agree to 25% pay cut. Its tells a story of poor management.

CWI met with players in Florida to air differences, then met with the Prime Ministers of Caricom, agreed to not punish players.

CWI lead by the Big EDiot, in selections after did what,
certain players weren't selected On ePM noted CWI lied to Caricom.
WE saw comments about Gayle by the Big EDiot , then Lil B,it showed poor leadership at this position.

Sure Lil B has been invited, since he was suspended without due diligence is in High Court vs CWI. He has made commitments and couldn't play for CWI.

Lets count comments made by these players it only relates
to poor administration at Corporate Headquarters by CWI administrators and it's Board.

WE are now at minnow status, where certain players are refusing to represent us, yet these same players have contributed millions back to CWI,10% of such players contract to play overseas.

CWI and its Board are outdated, with such skills we have seen what has happened in the last 25 years, are they held accountable? NO, we blame players who seek to ensure they have a retirement and not be in a position as former players who bled maroon and today seek help from family.
Some were vagrants on the streets until death ended such misery.
A colorful history isn't it.
redface redface

The only team the T20 league stars should be selected for is T20.
If these guys want to play in other format, let see them participating in them.
Gayle, Samuels, Ramdin, Russell and Narine, should be selected, but hell no, to Bigb, Pollard, Simmons and others.

You seem to be conveniently ignoring the fact that contracts signed for Domestic Leagues like the Big Bash, PSL etc are voided without predjudice when a parent Board selects a player. Or have you forgotten dat de Pakistani players in de CPL had to leave when their Board called for a fitness camp in de middle of de Tournament?

Doh forget dat Carlos has a PSSL contract but accepted de CWI offer

Every South African player, left the CPL for their award presentation last year.
The group needs a Frank Worrell type leader.

Boss I disagree with you. The same standard should apply to all players. This method will only create more tension

The same standard should apply to all players.

A player should be selected base on the formats, he is participating in.
Bravo and pollard has not bowled 5-10 overs or batted 15 overs in sometime, why should they be selected?
