8 murders in a week in Western Division in T&T
WITH eight murders in the polices Western Division in a week, residents in parts of West Trinidad are considering a self-imposed curfew to escape the violence. Investigators are saying the killings are linked to ongoing gang warfare which was re-ignited by a double homicide in an area known as Coco Jah in Petit Valley last Thursday.
When the Express visited Freedom Street and Waterhole Road in Cocorite yesterday, some residents said recent killings had left them shaken. The latest incident, which occurred yesterday morning, saw Damian Maingot, 38, and Dwayne Manzano, 36, shot dead in their apartment building.

Father of kidnapped teen may send children abroad
YESTERDAY marked 16 days since Port of Spain teenager Darrell Cuffy was kidnapped, and his worried father is now contemplating sending his three other children abroad to prevent what happened to his eldest son.
Businessman Farrell Cuffy yesterday made a heart-rending plea to the kidnappers who snatched his son, to send him home in time for Mothers Day on Sunday so that his wife Elizabeth could smile once more.
If those people have a mother or a sister or even a daughter, they should consider how his mother is feeling at this time, because to take a child away from their mother is one of the most vicious acts someone could perpetrate against that mother and child, and I am begging, literally begging those people to please send my son home.
Yesterday, police investigators said they have not given up hope that Darrell is alive and said they are working round the clock to find him.

Socialists havent a clue on law enforcement, but they always 'sing' the proper tune to get into power! Of course the masses always luv to hear of: class envy, how corrupt the previous admin. was, we will now build low income homes, we will give you this, we will give you that; free this, free that! Working poor just luv those tunes...if physical security is always the top agenda, then & only then can you get people to repatriate. It's that simple. Mih done.
