Shai Hope and his career

Andy99 2018-06-26 12:05:35

Has had 1 good run in his Test career. A span of 5 matches, in 2 series apart from those 2 series he has never managed to average above 30 in another series.

So Career Stats:
20 Tests
1110 Runs
30 Average
2 Tons
3 Fifties

Eng and Zim in 2017:
5 Tests
549 Runs
78 Average
2 Tons
2 Fifties

Tests excluding Eng and Zim 2017:
15 Tests
561 Runs
19 Average
0 Tons
1 Fifty

Very disappointing numbers for one who is so highly regarded.

Shai Hope has been disappointing. I hope he has not reached the point of diminishing returns.

Bro, I hope Shai don't get bogged down by scoreboard pressure, ala Shiv. Every darn time the openers fold like a cheap tent. The man has to deliver everytime, plus the ball is still new. And it seems, unlike Shiv, he is suspect against the genuine quicks.

I am never one to make excuses...just get the job done.

No excuses.

Look, if they fix the problem at the top of the order, the WI middle in Chase, Sugar Shane, Big Jase looks good.

I don't know that...

Look at the past series...seeems like the middle order deliverd the goods.

Narper 2018-06-26 13:02:18

No one can convince me that English performance was a fluke. We all saw the man delivered the goods big time...classy performance in the whole series

Shai Hope is the real deal....don't know what has happened...but something has gone radically wrong...

HE HAS TO BECOME SELFISH AND BAT FOR HIMSELF...just score runs and more runs....THE TEAM WILL BENEFIT
BTW...selfish doesn't mean poke and poke.....but if you do....you MUST remain not out when the innings ends...the team will benefit

If you are under pressure you don't fold to pressure, you bat like Dowrich did in this series. It is not like Shai Hope has been the saviour in every innings for West Indies, infact, he has been far from it, with the exception of Headingley. Stop making ridiculous excuses for his lacklustre performances.

Judge the man after 40 tests, not 20, and then advocate for him to get a real good run after 40 to fulfill his true potential!
lol

Seriously, I never had him in my fantasies so I never studied him in depth, but he looks good.

Player development now!
People like him should not depend on WICB. We know what happens with players of talent and promise.
Go pro. Hire your own batting coach like the tennis and golf pros.

A Wisden Cricketer of The Year based almost solely on his exploits at exploits at Headingly.

Cricketers of the Year used to be made of sterner stuff.

mittheimp 2018-06-27 06:59:09

He is a proper talented test batsman however not all proper talented test batsman make it. Let's hope he can turn it around against Bangladesh because he is potentially the best we have.

A Wisden Cricketer of The Year

Didnt Samuels also get this for a series vs Eng?

But anyhow Wisden cricketer of the year is a joke, and shouldn't be confused for a world cricketer award. Wisden is solely based on cricket played in England, there's 5 of them every year.

No, it was for his body of work in 2012 when he hit his high water mark by having a career year. He did not just score runs in England or a single venue.

Samuels followed that break-out series proceeding to also score runs in the immediately after against Ne Zealand in the Caribbean that summer.

Wisden is solely based on cricket played in England,

So how did Lawrence Rowe win it in 1974? He did not play a single test in England that year.

Still not getting it, Wisden dont give a flying fack about NZ or anything other than cricket in England.
Samuels had an outstanding series in England and thus was one of the 5 cricketers for Wisden(who impacted the English season).

FYI Otis Gibson has won the Widen cricketer of the year award in 2008, based off county cricket.

A lot of you guys are confused about what really the award is about, I've see that.

According to the list of Wiki, Rowe has never won it.

Get rid of the Evil Spirit, negative factors in him.

Legally, a pandit does it but lots of moonshine products out there involving animal sacrifice(white fowl) and other stuff.
Some resident experts here might better help you with that.

Third advice after batting coach and jharay, get a Guru or Godfather in life.
Maybe a therapist also.

Hurry up before you lose your talent and become a has been.

Btw not suggesting dropping Shai or anything like that, just pointing out a very concerning fact.
Paint, Holder and Gabriel are my first 3 on the team.
Roach is thereabouts, only not in because he not to long came back.
After those 4, Chase, Shai, Dow and Bishoo, are fairly secured tho a few (more for some) bad performances could change that quickly.
Powell, Smith and Cummins needs the drop.

Paint
Lewis/Mosely/Hemraj/Campbell/ect.
Hety
Shai
Chase
Dow
Holder
Kemo
Roach
Bishoo
Gabriel
