Barbados Tridents have replaced Junaid Khan with Mohammad Irfan ahead of CPL 2018, set to commence from August 8. Junaid is "unavailable" for the tournament.
Irfan, who made his international debut in 2010, has bagged 83 scalps in 60 ODIs and 94 wickets in the T20 format and at an average of 20.94. His best figures of 4 for 16 came against Peshawar in the National T20 Cup in 2015.

You get 1 point per run for any batsmen with a strike rate 120 or less.
You get an escalator for strike rate above 120.
So a batsman who score a 50 @ 120 SR gets 50 points.
A batsman who scores 50 @ 240 gets 100 points.
Bowlers are a little more complicated. The more economical a bowler is over more overs the point points he will get.
So 4 runs an over for 4 overs = a bonus of 40 points.

For those of us who like to score at home and want to use an actuary (he was actuarly a poser here playing fantasy), can you give more specific, concrete scoring criteria/rules?
One of the times that I won, I declared that I figured out that the scoring system then, for ODI, favored bowlers and my team of bowlers got the most points.
De complainers accused me of cheating although they all had equal access to the rules.
This can be very intense.

In all seriousness, I dislike the milestone escalators of other scoring systems.
Bonus for scoring 50. There is little difference between 49, 50, and 51 runs yet the bonus for hitting 50 is disproportionate.

I’m interested though in how you decided on the 50 point bonus for a maiden over. Maiden overs are incredibly rare in T20 cricket—much more than twice as rare as a wicket for example.

To remain true to linear scoring it should be points per dot ball but I would have to look at the entire ball by ball to get that.
I believe I once did 75 or 100 or something crazy like that.

If my star player scores 6 runs off 2 balls (300 rate) does he get 50+ points?
Same with bowlers. How,when, where, why they get points.
If my bowler bowls one over for 3 runs......
how many escalators does he climb?
Just for my sake, can you perhaps please be a bit more concrete and specific.
It is a new system, not previously known to mankind.
Also would be good to know targets/goals when picking players. Who out of batsmen, bowler have more upside potential for marks.
If I don't know how my players will be assessed, without concrete criteria, I will not send them.

I am back!
Credit should not be given just for runs scored or for a flat run rate.
In 20 X 20, many times #4 down in the batting order do not get to bat to accumulate runs.
They would probably come in with only a few overs left.
Their job is to score runs a very fast rate, sacrificing their wickets in the process. They should be rewarded for that, but after scoring a minimum number of runs.
Any which way you decide, I am still waiting for the scoring system with specifics before I do my research.

I notice that some teams have Shadab Khan and Shakib Al Hasan, but published reports indicate that those two will not be playing CPL this year. In the past you have given posters the replacement player when a selected player has not shown up, but a few posters have picked both Shakib and his replacement Steve Smith. How will that be dealt with? Smith's scores will be counted twice???

I played in the interest of WI Cricket, ignoring the inc administrators. Plus I need the income/points.
I will however play the role of Black (Socrates) and still ask the questions of WICB, already asked without response or providing a copy of the scoring rules/criteria..

One point per run for <120 strike rate is understood. Yipee!!
What/how many points for strike rate >120? Is it graded and if so, how? When my #7 comes in and hit 12 off two balls, how is he rewarded points wise for scoring rate?
Is there a minimum amount of runs required to get strike rate bonus? How about a strike rate of 300?
Same with bowling. Flat rate for over and under econ of 8? How about 4 after 4 overs?
Clearly there must be some guidelines we can all follow rather than depending on the whims and fancies of the admin(it seems).
Thank goodness my livelihood is not dependent on it.
Basically, I would like to do my own scoring for kicks!
Granted that I picked a team at a disadvantage without knowing the criteria.

Scoring System
Economy Bonus - (8/Econ) * 20 * (Overs/4) for econ <= 8
Player A - 8/8 * 20 * 4/4 = 20 points
Player B - 8/4 * 20 * 4/4 = 40 points
The formula is quite linear. Player B got twice the bonus.
Player C - 8/4 * 20 * 1/4 = 10 points
Player C was very economical at 4 an over but only bowled 1 over (Darren Sammy example). It is not difficult to be economical for 1 over and hide so you get less of a bonus.

I was about to invoke the American with Disabilities Act on allyuh!
I could see where you would ignore me as I do indulge in a lot of "fat talk" or trash talk, satire, sometimes sarcasm and brutal honesty, but some concrete ones here don't ever get it.
Seriously, I just wanted to indulge in the pastime fully and with intensity 1. with research and analysis (time pass for that) and 2. to count my own score daily.
I do not blindly pick a team without knowing squat and hope for the best like dem gyals at work with football, basketball pools.
Honestly, with my inferior intelligence, I could not make heads or tails of the formula, so I was seeking explanation. It was still pertinent as scoring goes on daily, even though I blindly picked a team.
My income, ego and pride, does not depend on it!
Sorry if I came out as nagging, (not whining, as the scoring issue was not understood or resolved as yet). I was nagging for people to take out the garbage, or explain the formula....anybody!

Everytime I make comments during the course of a tournament does not mean I am complaining. Maybe to provoke people.
You keep on talking about whining. Here are the facts.
1.One of the times I won, I declared that I used my brain to figure out that bowlers would get more points based on the established scoring rules and picked my winning team accordingly.
You and few lackeys bawled like a hussy claiming that I cheated and won. Just like dem hignorant villagers. Thing is, you believed it and persisted with it like somebody steal something precious from you.
Who was the whiner, bawler then?
I would have none of that primitive mentality and left.
I should have put the "trophy" between yuh legs then.
2. Once you guys decided to change the rules mid tournament. I said it was unfair. You guys persisted saying it made little difference. It made some difference to my scoring. Irregardless, it was unfair. I walked out under protest, not whined as you keep on projecting. I did ask if that was the example you would set for your kids or students.
Only women are allowed to change their minds half way through, frustrating as it is.
As I said, have less of a concrete mind when I make provocative comments during the course of a tournament. It was meant to be provoking, taunting and funny (to me, at least).

I doubt it. I remember Tanvir took 5 for 3 against the Tridents last year, but I don't remember his score. Tanvir also opened the batting for the Warriors in a few games last year.
The scoring system for this FL seems a bit screwed toward batsmen though. I will be petitioning nick to give bowlers points for dot balls next year if batsmen are getting points for 6s and 4s.

Since that win and a few whined over the ignorant thought that I cheated because I interpreted the scoring system accurately, I just play for curiosity, to know the cricketers. It is the only time I would follow WI cricket. Otherwise no interest..
I toy with unknown, unpopular picks just for kicks, but I must still know the scoring parameters, like even when you play a board game with kids.

The problem with any scoring system is it is difficult to know how the pitches will play. A batsman friendly CPL will favour batsmen. They do not record dot balls in the scorecard so the only solution to help pure bowlers is to give more points for being economical.
There is a reason why someone picked a bunch of all rounders. They always break the system. Bowl a couple overs and take a wicket and get a lot of points.
This is why there is a weighted bonus for bowling more overs and maintaining a good economy.
But the objective is to improve. And improve we will.

The very first thing I do each year before picking my CPL fantasy league team is look at your lists of the most productive FL players for previous years. My team starts with the top 11 from the immediately preceding year and I compare that 11 to the top players from two years prior. Pollard is always in the top 11 most productive so he was an easy pick for me. Munro did not make the cut for me because he did not have a great year in 2017--major error on my part. And Lewis was excluded from my team even though he was a top scorer last year because his recent form has been poor.
But for me Pollard is a proven top T20 player

I hear you on the missing the playoffs point, but that is a double-edged sword. For example, I think it is a mistake to pick too many players on any one team because it's uncommon that more than 2 or 3 players from the same team have great performances in a win. So I try to pick the best players and hope that I have a big enough lead at the end when the playoffs start. It will be tough to beat Narper if he has a lead and Guyana and Trinidad make the finals. And tops had 5 Trinidad players I think

I find it hilarious how all ya'll beat up on Goofy just cause of his approach in figuring out the rules and therefore, which players to pick and, ironically, now that he's in top 2 spots recently and those same culprits are further down the ladder.... ya'll, in your own way, trying to figure out how to get to the top.
My point is... different people have different approach. That's all.

For me...it is public knowledge I banked on Amazon vs TKR finals....with the horseys named below...only Munro has really delivered to date

I had a really busy Friday to Monday and I fell behind. My apologies. And to defend the angry mob I should not agree to run a competition if I am not going to do a good job. So my obligation to the 23 people (not including myself

The reason for the error is we all know Ross Taylor as well Ross Taylor so when I put the teams in I called him R Taylor. Then I used L Taylor in the scores. I usually use the names as they appear on the scorecard but it takes me so much time to build the teams with those scorecard names that I just did the lazy thing and used first initial + last name. Only time I used middle initial was for DJ vs DM Bravo.
JR Cool now has a commanding lead. Kay jumps 5 positions.

Unfortunately, Hardick started off hard and strong but became limp once it went between the cold legs, before the climax. It is how you finish. Didn't get de job done!! Well, what with so many distractions!

Contrary to popular ignorant belief here, I never tried to change or challenge any rules. Some others actually changed in the past mid tournament.
I just asked for interpretation of the law. In spite of an A in Maths in fourth form, I could not interpret that formula, couldn't figure out what x was, much less why.
I did give many scoring scenarios asking for how they would be calculated per current formula. Not to change the rules!!
Apparently twenty two others did not have a clue as I perseverated over getting an explanation until the Chief Justice had to interrupt his busy schedule in the back room.

I realized it a few tournaments ago. A few of us like Walco, Nick know how to score and have some predictive talent based on calculation and interpretation of data.
I predicted that the leader at that time would drop off the cliff before the end. Since then the ?man has been so VEX that I stopped referring to horses (and donkeys) by names.
I also realize that my discussing topics on the syllabus made people go off course and to have their mouth run like a squirting vagina!
Cancel that! Some probably never experienced that, and it is always with pleasure, not malice.
If no malice was intended, the least what any half human even would have done, would be to withdraw the statement even if their ego is too bloated by environment or chemicals to apologize for that major transgression.
Instead they got more angry and defensive when called out.
Anyhow, congrats to all, at least for putting up with this Goofy soul.
My intent was never to interrupt you guys or interfere with the fun. I usually have fun almost all the time, not necessarily from self stimulation.
I did not come here to win friends or influence people either.
Please have some fun in your lives, hopefully not at the expense of others.

Based on how well Hety played internationally I am surprised more people did not pick him. I wish I did.
I forgot to put in Champion Bravo.
The ongoing issue I have is how to reward bowlers without making it an all rounder competition. I thought having a scaling reward system based on how many overs bowled would solve it but this was clearly a batting league.

It's been a while but happy to be in winner's row again.
I was fortunate to pick Shadab Khan in my 11 and maybe more so that he didn't show up and I got Fawad Ahmed instead. I think I was the only player to have him, so maybe he was the difference.
Like everyone else, I picked some lower lights in hope of a big tournament i.e. Lynn, Ross T., and Cornwall, but I would have never pick G Phillips or M Irfan who did well this year. (Add to that Evin's poor returns)
My biggest regret was leaving out Pollard and Narine (not sure how Narine scored overall).
Being a part of the Fantasy league makes nearly every game interesting and you support players from everywhere as a result.
Thanks to Nick again for his good work and honesty when he made a mistake. One kept me under the radar until the end.
