many more to come

Some time ago,I had said that Hety was Gayle with proper footwork.I was wrong. Hety is potentially a GREAT BATSMAN. When a batsman is going to score a well over a run a ball century with only 36 runs in boundaries (3 fours and 4 sixes) then you know you have a genuine talent. This innings reminds me of Carl Hooper's ODI century in India in 1988 when he was also 21.
In reply to Narper
Wish him all the best, brought a tear to my eye we deserve this. West Indians and Guyanese
Di yuth got balls!!
In reply to Dukes
at such a young age with limited international experience. Reminds me of an innings Kallis played against West Indies a few years ago.

You got let out?
I think anthonyp has been championing his cause for a very longtime!
BTW, was that Rutherford that did water duties?
Soon Guyana will be producing more world class players and Windies will dominate once more!
In reply to Dukes
I was comparing him to Gayle in the aggressive nature of his hitting.
In reply to StumpCam
Guyana and Barbados are needed and things shaping up nicely. Ayenmol say a prayer please
In reply to StumpCam

Now WI must win this.
This effort must not be in a losing cause
I have been trying to post the picture Norm has on his website of the Great Basil Butcher giving 13 year old Shimron Hetmyer cricket gear to encourage him.The aficianados knew from since then the boy was special.Rather like Hooper and 12 year old Ronnie Sarwan.
In reply to Dukes
One thing is for sure....home based muddies have been championing the lad for years...they are right....this lad is class...
In reply to doosra
Another lil Berbice bai they gotta look out for is Seon Glasgow.. He played for the U17 this year..

Not just that, but his technique seemed to have improved a lot compare to what was on show in NZ.
Done saw enough of Hetty since NZ to know he should be around the squad. Enough of this boring ass cricket that Shai Hope & Jason Mohammed plays in ODI cricket. Hetmyer is proper calypso cricket!!!
In reply to jen
Good talent indeed. Since U-19 has been fearless with all the shots. This is Bangladesh at his home ground so long ways to go but good start.
In reply to Dukes
Hooper?
In reply to Kay
Indeed..
In reply to NYCGURU We were both singing his praises on the last England tour
Great knock by Hetmyer. Clean hits to, and over, the boundary.
He follows the ball better now onto his bat and will probably put together many more decent innings. He has the strong wrists and shoulders to power the ball away after waiting to the last instant before striking the ball.
Gradual exposure to better and better competition should mold him into a world class competitor in cricket.
Meanwhile, somebody needs to remind Keemo to not let his batting skills evaporate! Like Hetmyer previously, Keemo just wants to hit every ball to the boundary right from the start. That approach will not get him runs in international cricket.
In reply to goliath
Absolutely. It was getting to be extremely frustrating seing him on the bench at a time when our cricket is dying for an infusion of young talent. Hopefully the powers that be are funally able to see what has been so very obvious.
In reply to Norm
I am convinced Keemo is just a bowler who could lash a few now and then...certainly not an allrounder....based on FC and now ODI cricket
In reply to Narper
So far in his career, this is the truth. Actually in his international career he has proven to be a bowler who cannot bat.
Hope Hetmeyer continues this way and be successful, tired of all them pokers who can't hit d ball.
In reply to Narper
Keemo was a very capable batsman, right up to the U-19 World Cup that WI won about 2 years ago. One doesn't suddenly forget to bat, unless one does not feel the need to play substantial innings.
The coaches should make sure that he gets adequate batting practice. He is being sent in at No. 8 and 9 often enough. He needs to take advantage of such opportunities. The time will come when WI will need him to score plenty of runs.
In reply to Norm
Hola...Normie..Keemo as you say can bat...then its up to the coaches to try and allow him the opportunity to bat..when you are batting with just a few overs to go and at tail end your mindset is abit different...the coaches will have to handle Keemo in an astute manner..and Keemo needs to recognise his talents and possible reinvent himself as one that the team can depend on to bat and make a contribution.
We need not forget Jason Holder who was and possible still is..a capable batsman ..who was ultimately used as a seamer..roles and talent need to be recognised.
Adios

In reply to Norm
Different level Normie...even U19 batting stars don't make it the FC and higher level
But I do get your point....and as a fan I am willing him to take wickets as well as score big runs....but he continues to disappoint me with the bat.
But I will take....having him cement his place in the side as a bowler...then work on his batting....a la Bishoo....and Roach....I would hate to see him placed in the Angel batting category
In reply to CITYBOY
Even with a few overs....wild slogs getting out does not cut it...even off a few balls....you can't score runs from the pavilion...and sometimes those few runs at the end of the innings do matter...for example scoring a 0 - 4 vs scoring 10-15 runs.
So yes ...he must change that mindset of wild slogs at the end to calculated hitting
