Of course you know that Kingston (which is at sea level) is not Jamaica.
Right?

I'll seize the opportunity to share my Rolls Royce story.
Years ago I got caught in a traffic jam on East Shore Road in Great Neck, NY. Finally getting to the source of the jam, I noticed a Rolls Royce with hood (ok, the bonnet) open, the only time I've ever had such an observation. On a second look I noticed it was the one and only Frankie Crocker(sp) under-the-hood.
In reply to VIX
Nice!!
Too much stuff for me though.
In reply to VIX

In reply to Larr Pullo
man! if Gayle walk on water you would say that's because he can't swim
In reply to camos
Gayle cant swim?
Jamaica have nuff good Highway for that ride....not sure about the country roads
In reply to Dan_De_Lyan
collector's item, you drive it 4 or so times per year.
In reply to camos
invest in the classics, it always appreciates...even new bentleys get that status
If you ask Mike Tyson what are his biggest regrets, in interviews online, it's not biting ears... it's being ignorant of the ramifications of spending foolishly.
Evander Holyfield had a house and estate so big, near ATL, it had it's own zip code & they named the highway after him. He is now broke.
Rappers, sports stars, entertainers fail to accept one reality: it is hard to maintain a lifestyle over time when the BIG PAYDAYS stop.
Just yesterday, we heard Kevin Garnett lost 70 Million+ to fraudulent money managers.
If a blinged out Bentley excites you... great. He can afford 10 Bentleys as of TODAY... Call Gary Sobers about going broke until the government(also broke) stepped in.
That is gaudy AF - but Gayle can blow his money on his terms.
In reply to VIX
Nice I like the hologram under the door. I might get summen like that
One question, why not UB instead of CG when the car has Universe Boss emblazoned on it?
BTW, its tastefully done, not too over the top!
While Gayle is still the topic of conversation, here's yet another record set by the self-claimed Universe Boss.
Who travelled how much: from Grace to Gayle
Chris Gayle has clocked more than two million kilometres in the game, shuttling from one ground to the next, making him the most-travelled cricketer ever. Think of that number for a moment. If Gayle were an astronaut, that distance would cover three round trips to the moon. It is equivalent to circling the planet 50 times. If he was just shooting up like a rocket, he would have gone way beyond any human ever has.
My question would be, why shouldn't he do some of his traveling in his gold-plated Bentley if he so chooses?
Looks like the man has earned it, doesn't it?
BTW, Pollo's travels to Bavaria /Deutschland, Africa (at large), and Scandinavia can't even come close.

In reply to pelon
As dem Ghanaians would say, "Allow de man small small". If I bought a brand new Toyota Supra at age 36 (granted it wasn't special-ordered) then Chris buying a Bentley at 39 is reasonable. If he were in his twenties then perhaps... But I saw no reports of extravagance and wantonness over his time.

In reply to Drapsey
Hope they don't steal the Bentley and melt it down for its gold bits...you know how they roll in JA. He might be Universe Boss, but if they shot Marley, who is Gayle?
In reply to Drapsey
Nice part of the island
In reply to Larr Pullo
Looks good to me. Look you cannot take it to the grave so let him enjoy the fruits of his labour.
In reply to Runs
Had the pleasure of working in that area for 14 years, followed by another 3 years in nearby Lake Success.
My cousin called Great Neck the 2 Mercedes town, meaning that every family had 2 of those.
In reply to nick2020
Serious: let's leave world boss CHG out of a question below (so people don't take it as 'a thing against Gayle')
Your point is noted. Yet enjoy, is confused with "squander".
Question Nick: Is a life well lived about blowing money sub 50s and potentially going broke in your latter years?
What about the long arc of time. What about (BLACK) GENERATIONAL WEALTH and generational legacy??? We in our region have little concept of financial legacy.
Your own position of "you can't take it to the grave" is a good point, and oft repeated - yet that quote is a misnomer here.
Balance, generosity and long term financial security are 10000 times more meaningful as a "life lived" than blowing your earned nest egg and spending old age on handouts...
I could be wrong, I often am.
In reply to pelon
Car, house, maybe a few investments. What else is he doing with his money? Buying oodles of champagne to take a bath in nightly?
If this is his treat to himself and spends the rest of his money wisely then that would be fine, right?
How is his restaurant and bar doing?
In reply to JahJah
Agreed!
In reply to Larr Pullo
Bob had a history of leaving his BMW unlocked while visiting his old haunt Trench Town, all in the effort to show the locals that he doesn't consider himself above them nor the community at large.
Gayle might just emulate when visiting Rollington Town.

In reply to nick2020
No its an ostentatious display of wealth to gain attention. Betrays his gauchness. Youd never find a truly wealthy person driving around in a gold Trimmed Bentley.
In reply to Larr Pullo
Bold statement.
You know this how? You know these people personally?
In reply to Drapsey
Will any of the many sixes Gayle hit bring him and his off spring royalty payments in perpetuity?
In reply to Larr Pullo
You're reading too much into it bro.... so it's ok if it's a "regular" bentley? The gold-part just made it too much?
Truly wealthy people have other things like a helicopter, Jet, or Yacht, etc.
What's the difference? Nothing wrong with personalizing it to your taste....

In reply to Larr Pullo
Pollo, Gayle is the one who physically goes out to bat day after day, night after night, hitting those sixes. What if he wants to reward himself by driving around in a $250,000 gold plated Bentley?
Whatever "residue" is left for his off-springs should certainly translate to a greater start than he had in Rollington Town.
Let the man enjoy the fruits of his labor in the way he chooses. Better him than some "Money Managers".
is gayle rich or is he wealthy?
In reply to RemainsUnknown

Was about to ask that.
Add to that those 10 bedroom houses for one man and his wife just to show off.

In reply to cricketest
I presume he's just saying that not even wealthy people do it, so why would a mere rich guy do it.
In reply to Larr Pullo
One more item on this Gayle thing.
Just after Gayle made his first triple against the Saffies, I was at a match (Alpart) where he was playing for Jamaica against the Windwards. His sister was walking around the field proudly talking about the US$300,000 that he had in the bank at the time.
He has really come a long way since then.
All dem first class flights Larr taking when he could just fly economy and save teh difference for his children and their children.
Wait deh. Is vex Larr vex him can't afford a gold trimmed Bentley?
Who stopping him from gold trimming him 1991 Accord?
Hope Crampey don't feel cramped in that Bentley
There are peeps with ten times the cash as Chris who drive normal cars and peeps with one-tenth who drive more expensive ones. So to each his own but I have to agree with pelon and Larr --- to me it's devotion to flash and bling instead of pragmatism and prudence in the face of the unknown future.
We all know the many stories of athletes and celebrities who were rolling in dough yesterday but boxing shyte outta hog mouth today. Hopefully Chris will not be one of them.
Are people reading into Gayle's management of his finances using this ONE car?
Like really?
In reply to pelon
I am not his accountant so I am unable to engage you on if this is mismanagement.
But hear me out:
Happiness is key to well-being. So take care of your health and wealth.
This is why we put scotch in coconut water.
a man that created his own wealth is free to display it,part of the motivation for wanting more!
two years ago Larr had a thread ,asking if he should buy a Ranger Rover or some other truck, does he have a tenth of Gayle's wealth?
Isn't there a video of him with a tricked out Mercedes van with all kinds of TV screens and stuff in it. Some kind of a party van. Was wondering what he was doing with that. No need to wonder what he will be doing with this.
In reply to camos
Range Rover, when could have just bought a KIA?
Tsk tsk
Hey, was it the Body Snatcher who bough 8 Rolls Royces back in the day?
In reply to Drapsey
Gotta agree with your cuz.

--Æ.
In reply to camos
Haha.
Didn't you, Larr, read Gayle's book about he almost died? Now he's living his life as he coulda been dead long time....
Cut the man some slack... not like he cares about what anyone thinks of him, anyway.....
one IPL season and all vehicles would be paid for!
Yall let the man enjoy his earnings!
In reply to VIX
love it!!
Man made the money and its his to spend..
love the 333 touches.
In reply to pelon
I am ambivalent about the prudence of this ---- so I rationalize it this way the company/individuals involved in producing the vehicle benefits.
spending money at a store in a community. ... Return three times as much money per dollar-back to the local community --- so whatever the cost of the car --- the money multiplicative factor provides huge benefits to others ---- plus Chris is magnified and happy ---- some of us may not like the community where he spends his money but wherever it is the money is helping someone/community
Hola...most of the posts here about Gayle's purchase is irrelevant and reeks of jealousy. You live within your means and purchase what you can afford...that is straight up common sense.
Did Gayle ask any of you for a loan to buy his car?Did any of you contribute to his success?
If that his way of rewarding himself for hard work and success ..so be it...whether you would do something like this is irrelevant...it's Gayle's decision to do whatever he wants with his money..period.
Enjoy the ride Gayle and when you get tired of the Rolls I will buy it for 10 cents on the dollar/
adios
CB
In reply to CITYBOY
Well said.
The assumption is that he is living beyond his means but they don't have any idea what his financial status is.

man! people here gold plating Mazda and Camry!
In reply to camos
Crash! Bang!
You are the man. The man who put Larr's extravagance in context. Him think yuh did forget!

In reply to mikesiva
Its in Jamaica now
In reply to camos

In reply to Larr Pullo
I disagree with that statement.
Betsy Devos, United States Secretary of Education owns nine (9) luxury yachts. What is the difference here Larr?
Instead of driving around she is sailing around in 9 luxury yachts. No criticism there?
It's not a bad move,he didn't do it with the latest latest continental GT,someone else already took first loss on that car and Chris pimped it out which is the right approach, clearly a pristine example and a very good move, probably saved over 100k sterling..
In reply to Star
9??? Not even every day of the week and twice pon Sundays.
Now, THAT is OTT.
In reply to JahJah
Seems like every country had the Rolls Royce for everyday freak,we had one too,Mootilal Moonan, now they trying to do that with Bentleys and Lambos in T&T now..
In reply to JahJah
Yes my friend, she owns 9 of those luxurious babies.
Opulence to the highest degree.
