I doubt roach will be back in time to overcome jet lag etc and slot straight into the team. If he does make it, then paul sits, i guess

4 fast bowlers in india seems like a bit of an overkill
In reply to brians_da_best… well, I say play 5 bowlers, will make allowance for the composition. However, play our best 5, regardless of the speed at which they bowl.
In reply to brians_da_best
Good side but i would put Warrican in for Bishoo. Bishoo has regressed over the years and probably should not be in the squad. He doesnt seem to be able to bowl on consistent length and line despite all the years of experience. His only saving grace is that they are playing in India.
In reply to russean76
The same Warrican who went wicketless in the warm up match? Bishoo at least took some wickets.
In reply to mikesiva
We need to using a warm up game as a criteria for picking a test team.A warm up game these days is exactly what it says on the tin. warm up ie for batsmen to go and have a hit and bowlers to bring over their arms, stop reading so much in to it. One person posted he has concerns over hety because he made a low score, next thinks Ambris should play instead of hety because he made a hundred and you are now saying Bishoo should play before Warrican because he got 3 wickets in the warm up. i am not convince by either
Bowling record in test however Warricab had a good A team series earlier in the year
virat will become bishoo's bunny
In reply to navindesigns
a hope is not a horror movie, them bunnies can transform.
In reply to mikesiva
why are you confusing people with facts?
and don't forget Bishoo's secret weapon! No other WI player got that!!
yeah, thanks to Larr we know it.....LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!

The has carried Bishoo for long enough, Warrican has proven that he deserves a chance. If Bishoo goes in there a bowl those long-hops there will be some long days in the field and some very large scores to chase.
In reply to russean76
You could argue for Warrican ahead of bishoo, but I doubt thatll happen. Unless they play both and drop paul

Play all the batsmen.. Could play 11 bowlers and India gonna still score 400+ with ease.. So is best we use all the batsmen available
In reply to Redstar
Warrican is more than ordinary and shouldn't be playing for the Windies,Bishoo will be a better selection in India for the tests. If Bishoo went wicketless in the so called warm up,you would never say that doesn't count,or don't read too much into it.
In reply to granite
Agreed.
Bishoo's biggest problem is Jason Holder inability to properly use spin bowlers and the cappo's poor captaincy skills.
In reply to granite
I agree that if Bishoo could keep a proper length and line he probably would be the better choice but over the last few years he has not proven that he can do that and if he cant do that it will be disaster.
In reply to granite
It is not like the good old day when there were one or two four day matches before the test series so can have a good look at one or two players these days you have a two day match where the batsmen in the squad can bat and all the bowlers can have a bowled, batsmen bat for 15 overs and retire to let someone else have a go and you really think hat match is used to select the team for the test that follows.by the time the warm up game is played the coach and the management knows the team baring any injury. So Bishoo 3 for is meaningless in the grand scheme of things. Bishoo is the incumbent and will play, Warrican only plays in a two-spinner setup or injury to Bishoo. I have no problem with that only to say Bishoo bowls at least one bad ball an over a long hop or a full toss and he doesnt have a googly.
The first 6 batsmen in the warmup game will be the first in the test
In reply to Emir
I dont know many captains in the world who can set fields for long hops and full tosses, or a spinner who is leaking runs when you only made 250-300.
Regardless of whom gets picked into the 11 they better bat first if they win the toss. Best time to bat on spinning pitches that keep crumbling and turning dusty. Best chance they have of lasting.

The same Warrican who averages over 46 with the ball in Test cricket?

Time to grow some cojones CWI!
Play all the bowlers we took since the purpose of this tour is to prepare India for their trip to Australia. Use the money we get from the first match to buy a few Indian wickets in the next test. Save some of the money from the next test also to pay the CWI selectors for supporting the India in their prep for Australia. Perhaps free trip for the Boxing Day test?
We must reward CWI for their astute leadership in this area. No other team is close to us in that critical thinking space.
In reply to Atl_View we cannot, as Roach not back yet.
In reply to brians_da_best
Good team, but Sunil cannot bat at #3, that either Hope or Hety..
Chase also must play to help with the bowling
In reply to allan
Chase is in the team.
Ambris has previously opened at domestic level, so maybe 3 is a good spot for him.
That said, the batting order could be changed around
In reply to brians_da_best
Ambris could be the surprise of this short tour.
In reply to granite
I hope he gets runs. He had a wretched tour of New Zealand, hopefully this one will be a lot better
Now that Roach is unavailable the WI need to play five bowlers.
In reply to dayne always should!
In reply to Emir
Just curious, what would you like to see Jason Holder do to improve Bishoo's game?
