HEADLINE: Bravo brothers, Pollard, Narine out WI ODI squad to India

CaribbeanCricket.com 2018-10-05 04:57:47

THE Bravo brothers, Kieron Pollard and Sunil Narine will not be part of the West Indies one-day touring squad to India, as Cricket West Indies (CWI) selectors have already picked that team even before a ball was bowled in Super50 competition, which commenced Wednesday in TT and Barbados.

Dwayne Bravo – despite leading Trinbago Knight Riders to another Caribbean Premier League title recently – looks unlikely to be selected for the T20 squad to India as well, after he was not one of the players contacted by CWI about getting an India visa in the event he was chosen.

This information was confirmed to Newsday by CWI CEO Johnny Grave in response to speculation about the composition of the touring ODI and T20 teams.

Grave said chairman of selectors Courtney Browne was unavailable to comment because he is in India.

“Through the cricket operations department, the selectors have gone to 25 players to get visas sorted for India,” said Grave.

“It’s sort of like a white ball squad of players. The selectors haven’t picked the T20 squad yet so, they (are) just getting everyone sorted in case they are selected.”

On July 24, Grave broke the major news to ESPN Cricinfo that he came to agreement with the Bravo brothers (Dwayne and Darren), (Kieron) Pollard and (Sunil) Narine to play in the Super 50 to push for the India tour and future one-day team selection.

Who cares about on field performance... even if adding a couple of players with experience might be good for WI we would not do so

I'm lost, didn't they already state that the Super50 now is for the criteria for playing the WC?
I thought it was already mentioned that was the players who played recently as in this year's 50 over competition the one held earlier was gonna be given preference
So you mean that Bravo who aint' play well none of them play 50 over cricket in a while should get preference over guys who been playing? All cause they named bravo
You know this newsday article only highlights Trini players right? So are they entitled to be picked cause of their long time past performance, or accordingly to newsday headlines, cause they are Trinis?. Lil bravo ain't even played yet and he's injured.
Come on man Pacy seriously?

Bravo brothers, Pollard, Narine out WI ODI squad to India

Were they in the team for the previous series?

I think it's best to let them play the entire super 50 then changes can be made for the Bangladesh odi I expect jadeja, bumrah and virat to end a few bajan careers

Narper 2018-10-05 13:02:00

I agree....let them stay at home and play a full season.

If they are still good enough then they will book a place for the WC 2019

Do well, Brung will have no excuse for not picking them....and if they they fail they will have no excuse for not being picked

The Trini bwoys, when selected, will do the same

They have personal reasons for not playing.

CWI is good at playing games.
