Gabriel has to keep that seam up. With his speed and off the seam he should get good movement both ways.

Gabriel head hard like wall nail

I must admit that is a true statement.

All this talk about Gabriel does not excite me. Yes his speed is up there but until he learns how to hold the ball when delivering, he will just be another hit and miss fast bowler.

Carlos Brathwaite is the same. Tino Best was the same.

The way those three guys hold the ball, they could never achieve consistent control on delivery.

Corey Collymore knows this because he was told about it yet he allows Gabriel and Carlos to continue as usual.

The coaches are either just along for the pay cheque or those guys heads are really hard.

In reply to StarSo yuh want to tell people that all those bowlers doh know how to hold a ball to hit the seam,I'm sure there's more to it than just how to hold the ball.

Headley 2018-10-23 21:33:10

How the ball is held is important. Probably equally important is pronation of the wrist. Look at all the Indian pace bowlers you will notice that the wrist moves through about 100 degrees to end with the palm facing downward at the point of delivery. Some call it cocking the wrist.

WI bowlers don't do it because foolish coaches believe it is not clean. Curtley Ambrose was a master of pronation of the wrist. It adds speed. It deceives the batsman re the point of delivery and it gives one more method to control the ball.

Who are all those bowlers?

I am talking about 3 guys whose grip of the ball for a fast bowler is a joke.

This is something those of us who "been there done that " talk about all the time.

If you have no idea what I am talking about go and take a look at the tapes.

Gabriel seam position and overall bowling has improved a lot. Bowling in India was never going to suit him though.

Hes not even the fastest in the Wondies.

I believe that Oshane Thomas rival him for speed.
