First, Darren Bravo in T20 but not tests where he has a better record - and his record overseas is way way better than his career average.
Ambris favoured in tests over ODI's, where he is much more accomplished in the limited format.
Powell x 2, Hemraj, Samuels not scoring much runs in the ODI leg yet your one extra batsman on the bench can't get a game. Hemraj dropped for the final ODI and replaced with a bowler when you struggling to make runs. Hemraj also dropped instead of Ravmon when he looked more likely to score more runs than Ravmon. Ravmon has a glaring weakness against spin and still played all 5 games.
McCoy dropped for the 4th ODI - (he was injured for the other games going forward).
Shai Hope called up as a replacement and played before more accomplished T20 players in Rutherford and Pooran.
The T20 team taking blows in the first 2 game, you have Hope, Ramdin not making any significant contribution yet Rutherford can't get a game?
No specialist openers selected for the T20 leg!!
They all need to be FIRED!!!!
Is the poorest set a decisions I ever see in a tour!!

Windies Selectors & Think Tank Exposed!!!
In reply to jen
CWI spends more on Administration than developing players
At CWI they rehire Pybus...
Cameron and Adams in US Hall of fame ? For what??
Then they extend contracts brung
CWI calls such decisions innovative thinking
See no openers is like when WICB introduce the 4 prang to the werld.
brung showing we don't need openers.

Now you're talking.

Specialist "openers" are overrated in limited overs cricket, especially T20 cricket. I agree with the Sunil Gavaskar philosophy for limited overs cricket--pick you your three best batsmen and put two to open and the other at number 3.
In reply to Walco
That's great but we don't have 3 batsmen
We have hit and miss players.
In reply to jen
They do not have a think tank !!!!
In reply to jen
Would you select bravo for a format he has not played for the last 2 years?
This is not club or fete cricket, you select players for the formats, they playing.
Darren has been playing or sitting on the bench in T20 leagues, so I have no problem with his selection.
Darren has to come back and get his feet wet, in the regional 4-day competition.
In reply to openning
If i had to bank on him in one, it would be Test. Regardless, you make a good point!
In reply to Walco
You think we have Kohl's and Rohits and Amlas in our team?
In reply to jen
Thats why the argument about selection, should be base close to International players stats, and performance for the last 2-3 years.
That is why I referent Bravo.
We have a problem with power hitters, transferring their T20 game, to other formats.
Pollard and Carlos were normal batsman who became Power hitters, they are condition to bat 4-5 overs, batting down the order.
If these guys were playing in all formats, they would be batsman, who can built an inning and do what I saw two young South Africans did against Australia, a day ago.
In reply to jen
Agreed with you with everything but the Bravo selection.
He aint' play nothing more than 20 overs in months.
However, looking at the bangla series I'll try to get him into the test squad.
I really don't want to think that the Management with the squad in India couldn't see what most of us seen, so i think that the actual XI is based on either Brown or Cameron.
Might not say so on paper but i think these guys stretching over their duties.
In reply to sgtdjones
Hetmyer, Hope and Bravo not batsmen????

In reply to jen
No, but the same formula applies nonetheless
It is time the CWI start selecting Chase for the ODI's instead of Samuels, he is the future, he could develop, he has a more consistent attitude than Samuels and at this stage is as good a batsman.
In reply to jen
Don't blame the selectors or administration for the final playing XI.
The team management is responsible for the final playing XI.
I not saying that the selectors have selected the best team (that's debatable) but once the team arrives at the ground it is the team management's responsibility from there.
Selectors/Administration, Team Management, & Players should be all graded as separate units now that the tour is over.

Did they already select the test team to Bangladesh? I have not seen the team as yet. I agree re Ambris in One day cricket. He is very good at rotatign strike for twos and hits timely boundaries. Excellent 50 overs player in the middle order. It's not a bad thing for Rutherford to be in the squad and waiting to get a game tho. He will play soon, and I reckon he will be hungrier.
I'm sad that Pollard did not have a good series. The west indies selctors have been giving guys a long run but I feel they will not be so kind to the "stars", which again is unfortunate and a bit unfair that they play under more pressure than anyone else. Devon smith got five test matches, 10 innings to stink up the place royally.
Marlon Samuels has to be done now seriously. I would like to see Lewis back now to see if he can find form before England and the worldcup. If he still cannot find form, I'm not taking him tot he world cup, sorry. rovman is a curious case. Love the guy, love that he keeps improving and is a team player. BUT, he is so bad against mystery spin he looks very silly against them. We can play him against Australia and teams like that.
In reply to Veracity
By think tank, i mean the team management. Didn't want to specify captain or coach as I don't know if both select the final xi, or just coach only...
In reply to jballer84
Seems like the same team is going Bangladesh except Holder who is out injured. Ramon Reifer maybe the replacement by all guesses.
Someone will have to be added to the ODI team as well.
In reply to Walco
The middle order bats who open well in T20 are usually graceful timers aka Amla, Rohit. Hard hitting wicket keepers seem to be the exception
In reply to jen
If this is what the team we end up having, it would be another move that would not make any change.
Absence of Holder is the best chance to induct and develop a strike bowler Oshane Thomas or Alzhari Joseph or Chemar Holder into the test side. Ramon Reifer might just not fit the bill.
Also I still like to see Darren Bravo in the Test side.
Carrying Kieron Powell for another series after so many failures without trying the options is another question.
In reply to Pacy
Powell got 80 odd in his last test
In reply to brians_da_best
No. He got 22 & 0 in his last test. The 83 was in the first test.
in 2018 he has played 7 Tests and has averaged 28. Nothing different from his career average of 27. What new are you going to find with him?
In reply to jen
You are right and the squad has only one change (Raymon Reifer). The successful team that travelled to India would have been retained if Holder was healthy.
In reply to Veracity
In reply to brians_da_best...guess when you like a player you will say anything.
In reply to Pacy
Well he became an immortal- centuries in both innings - against Bangladesh some years and has hardly done anything of note since.
Expect another decent score or two and he will be good for the next decade '("There is no body else"!!!)
