Full name Nic Pothas

Born November 18, 1973, Johannesburg, Transvaal

Current age 45 years 1 days

Major teams Greece, South Africa, Delhi Giants, Gauteng, Hampshire, Transvaal

Batting style Right-hand bat

Fielding position Wicketkeeper

Height 6 ft 1 in

Education King Edward VII High School, Rand Afrikaans University

Profile
A versatile wicketkeeper-batsman, who has became a more accomplished batsman as his career progressed to the extent he opened the batting at times for Transvaal in the Castle Cup in the absence of a genuine opening batsman. He is, however, better suited to the middle order where he can play his shots freely and without pressure. He joined Hampshire in 2002 and quickly became a consistent performer in front and behind the stumps. He also appeared for the Indian Cricket League's Delhi Giants team in March 2008. Although he never crossed 1000 runs he was close on a few occasions. Returns started to slip, due to injury, in 2010 and he suffered appendicitis part-way through the 2011 campaign which was the beginning of the end for his Hampshire career. He was released at the conclusion of the season having scored more than 10,000 runs in all cricket and taken more than 500 catches.

How could a team that dominated world cricket for 18 years cannot get a west Indian coach, especially when the majority of the players are still alive? I have nothing against foreign coaches but in order to succeed there must be continuity. The strange thing is I have never heard of a West Indian promoted as coach of any of the top teams around the world like Australia, England, India, South Africa, New Zealand & Sri Lanka. Could it be as a result of the bad treatment they have received by our board?

Since we seem to be so intrigued with foreign coaches, why not also try a foreign chief selector since that's what I feel is the root of our failure? Brown and boys always seem to give us a losing team. I am yet to understand why they dropped Blackwood from the team when he has the 2nd best batting average

This has everything to do with the compensation package. Our highly skilled West Indian coaches don't work for peanuts …. smile

I would bet foreign coaches are paid higher than west Indians.

You mean we could not give one of our own the job till we find a replacement?

Of course foreign coaches are paid higher. It is the local coaches that are not compensated half as well.

And the new coach done selected. You are all wasting your time with the theories and Dirty Dave has to be reading all this and having a good ol laugh at everyone's expense (again).

Next you'll be asking me to publish the players' addresses and phone numbers right here too rolleyes rolleyes

Dunce's like you are the reason Dirty Dave sits in his house in his underpants laughing at the sheer stupidity of people of this region. And, you're still not getting the wage details, so you can tell all your bus driver friends sorry, not today. Next.

My belief is that You are dealing with the Sympathizers of the Worst
International Cricket Board in the
Commonwealth ; aka the WICBC .

Obviously, they are in this Forum the
wittingly or unwittingly Agents of
the WICBC . My perspective is that
They are also a part of the Problem
regarding the Ills of West Indies Cricket .

This is due to the fact that they are perpetually emboldening those in
the WICBC , to behave even worse than they currently are behaving .

If WE honestly want Cricket in the
Region to improve it is vitally important that :

THE STRUCTURES OF ALL CRICKET BOARDS

IN THE REGION MUST UNDERGO VERY

SERIOUS CHANGES .

IN THIS NEW STRUCTURE , BOTH THOSE

WHO GOVERN AND OUR PLAYERS MUST HAVE

EQUAL STATUS REGARDING ALL MATTERS

PERTAINING TO CRICKET .

I firmly believe that at the heart
of the Problems of West Indies Cricket , is the fact that those in
the WICBC believe themselves to be
vastly Superior to Our Players .

This Blasted attitude they copied
from those who founded the WICBC in
1928 .

THOSE WERE PEOPLE WHO OWNED ESTATES

AND COMMERCIAL ENTERPRISES AND WERE

OF A DIFFERENT PIGMENTATION FROM

MOST OF THE PEOPLE IN THE WEST

INDIES .

This is precisely why there was a
Big Hue & Cry regarding the selection of Frank Worrell to be
the Captain of the West Indies Cricket Team .

this is why I will forever call those who are currently in the WICBC
MIMIC MEN , and their animosity
towards Our Players are at the heart of the problems involving West Indies Cricket .
