Poor guy. While he was struggling against Spin in India he was showing some development before that. This pressure is unnecessary at the moment.

Rovman fails in the practice match
In reply to Pacy
Kieran 43
Shai 81
Lil Bravo 24
Samuels 5
Hetmyer 33
Chase 65 not out
Allen 48
Paul 2
Ambris 10 not out
West Indians 331-8 off 50 overs.
In reply to Pacy
Depends where he batted in the order a large score chasing quick runs and him coming in late in that line up would not be fully considered a failure.
In reply to Raggs
He came in 30th over at the fall of 4th wicket @ 4/175. Was not a critical situation I think. But he has 3 ODIs to show he can score against the spinners.
It is our bowlers turn to go to the cleaners... Bangladesh is at 1/104 in just 12 overs
Bangladesh at 199/2 off just 25 overs...Rattling at 8+ runs per over
Thomas & Paul have been expensive.
In reply to Barbrady1
Thomas, Roach and Paul... All the quicks have been very expensive.
Licks from a board 11 team. WOW!
In reply to Pacy
Thus far, their combined bowling figures are 1/139 from 15 overs.
In reply to Barbrady1
Board XI 314-6 after 41 overs when rain stopped play, I believe. Board XI win by 51 runs on D/L.
At least we scored 300+
Well played cappo.. yuh leading from the front
keep it up
In reply to mikesiva
Did the 'interim' captain bowl himself when even during the brisk scoring (rate) overs?
In reply to Pacy
It's only a failure if it was unexpected
In reply to Pacy
Now you're going after rovman?
In reply to brians_da_best
Anybody who is being elevated undeservedly will be judged accordingly.
Still I look forward to Powell the batsman. But he has not shown anything to be elevated to captain. WI has going through the challenge of Unprepared and Underprepared leadership for a decade now
In reply to Drapsey
At least the Interim Cappo is 1-1, that is, one match, one win, 100%, so far so good.
Bad luck...atleast his bwoys did score some...Runs!
The spinners:
Chase 10-0-57-2
Allen 5-0-19-1
Bishoo 10-0-81-2
...taking practically all the wickets here. Samuels has failed with the bat but I can see a capt resorting to all four options...in this match the spinners bowled 25-0-157-5, the pacers 16-0-157-1. Why didnt Rov Powell bowl himself? A medium pacer like Dwayne Smith used to do very well against Bangla in ODIs.
In reply to Slipfeeler
n lost the game
Slippy , the captain lost the game.
In reply to analyst-kid
man, I have to hand it to you, have Roveman ever took 2 wickets in a game yet.
In reply to Slipfeeler
Waaaaahhh!
I guess 1-0 would be 200% !
In reply to Slipfeeler
Like you cyah read. Bangladesh XI won by 51 runs on de DLS
The headline on the WI cricket site "Fading light costs WI victory in ODI warmup" !!!! ...when the game ended due to bad light, Bangladesh had 18 runs to win with 9 overs remaining and 4 wickets in hand!!!
Bdesh setting up WI here, to play their spinners and slow batsmen. In the "real" match, most of the WI practice stars in this match will fail miserably.
Good to see Bravo trying to settle in. Let's hope Marlon hit form in the real matches.
In reply to Pacy
So will you blame Darren bravo if he fails?
In reply to brians_da_best
Is Darren Bravo the captain?
In reply to Pacy
So you'll only blame the captain for a personal failure? Ah well
In reply to brians_da_best
I was questioning the approach of making a person who has not cemented his place in the team as captain and not Rovman Powell in specific.
A captain retains his place in the team irrespective of his performance. Given Powell's performance in India his position is unstable and this post is just to say he still struggles against spin
Simple...a captain cannot be a passenger or liability in the line up.
In reply to Pacy
I get the broader point of your post. What I don't get is going after this young man, who could be a very good player for us, in the years to come.
His promise and talent are not in question. He has got a 100 in odis, did well in the qualifiers. Yes, he struggled in India, as did everyone else, except Hope and Hety.
Now, he did not make himself the captain. This team does not have anyone else who could be a better captaincy candidate, the selectors gambled on Powell. Who else could be the captain? Hety and Hope - let them bat. Bravo - making a comeback after over 2 years. Chase - too raw in odis. None of the bowlers cut it.
So instead of going after the young man, try and understand where the selectors are coming from. You never know, captaincy could spur Powell on to greater heights.
In reply to brians_da_best
If that is the logic, you can make anyone you like as captain and hope that it would spur... If you think that logic makes sense to you, I have nothing to say.
In reply to Pacy
So who should be the captain of this team?
In reply to brians_da_best
Hetmyer is the only and most obvious choice for skipper.
Carlos if you like that kinda thing
In reply to DIEHARD
I was surprised that R. Powell
was given the job. To me Hety seems the natural choice, having led the under 19 to victory already. He knows what it is to lead a winning team. Anyway, Powell must use this opportunity to establish himself as a player. The irony is that he was he only oner to make 0 in the match.
In reply to DIEHARD
I would, at this stage, just let hety bat
In reply to brians_da_best
Hety is the natural choice they they are building a captain.
If the need was temporary for this series alone, Why not have Roach / Carlos / Hope for just this series.
I still do not have an idea how someone can justify a fringe player to lead the team. Why would anyone else even respect them? The idea of earning respect has been lost.
In reply to Pacy
Wasn't the idea of earning respect lost when we had captains picking and choosing series, making statements like they won't be sad if test cricket died, etc etc?
In reply to brians_da_best
NO.
In reply to Pacy
That's what YOU think
