Seriously Bajans.... Sharmarh Brooks

Logic 2018-12-16 07:13:03

When has he ever delivered for Barbados. Yes, his batting is a beautiful thing to watch, he is a fine young gentleman, a manager's dream, good interviewee....but where's the substance.

Compare the centuries he has scored to say those by a Dowrich or the performances with bat or ball by Stoute. Can you remember when Brooks has carried the team... been the match winner or saver?

Carter, as frustrating as he has been with his many brain darts has played some huge innings on occasion for his team.

Now they compound things by burdening Brooks with captaincy.

I get the sense that selectors don't consider things like demonstrated mental strength or put performances into context when they make their decisions. Hence, apart from omitting Stoute from a weakened team they also ignore the winner mentality of a Shemar Springer.

That's particularly frustrating when you see the advances of his Under 19 contemporaries.

Cannot see the knowledge in this at all. Did they not see the youth perform under pressure away form home. He is a batting talent being wasted instead of getting more experience and developing. Now he is competing against Greaves for the allrounder position when his batting is being wasted on the bench.

Then again that is that is Bim's conservative mentality. Just hope the youth stay focused. Guys have no foresight at all.

I agree I think the team management is lost.
Shermar Springer was the best allrounder in U19 West Indies team, and one of the top 5 in the tournament. The Bdos selectors and team management are hindering his further development by keeping him on the sidelines. Players like Carty, & Cato are getting the opportunity to develop while Bdos young talent in Holder, & Springer are watching.

Team Management wake-up!!!!

So far Greaves has done nothing with bat or ball this season after four innings.

But the reality is Greaves aside the allrounders are doing better and are tougher mentally than nthe specialist bats for sometime now.

I criticise Stoute's captaincy but the reality is he is a fighter (excellent FC bowler and dogged batsman) who represents the tradition of Barbados in regional cricket well. Springer is a relegated budding star watching failures like how Lara sat and watch Arthurton play.

But don't the selectors know Barbados Shell Shield history? Barbados used to have FOUR SPECIALIST BATSMEN, Sobers and four allrounders including the wkpr with or without Sobers!

Bynoe Ashby Lashley and Nurse just four specialist bats!

G.Sobers c Willet b Andy Roberts 12

My point is selectors nowadays seem to think that picking allrounders in front specialist bats suggests weak batting but if the allrounders are performing and the batsmen are not...what do u do?

Was there a camp to prepare Brooks for the tournament?
The BCA drafted 15 or so players in May, held two trials a month or so ago.
Preparation in the key to performance, this BCA/Pride owners has failed it players

I've just posted his last four years stats, have a look.
List another batsman, who over the same period, is as good or better.

Last A team tour to England he was the best batsman throughout. Guess that is why. Off to a bad start this season though.

A 'specialist batsman' appears to be a rare thing around the Caribbean.

Almost every player appears to be a part-time bowler of sorts.

perhaps Springer and Holder can be invited to play for Red Force. They need the help!!
