Makes me wonder where were these guys when people even MPs were threatening the man left right and center. By the way the article also stated the man is a CANADIAN CITIZEN so Canada has a right to protect him. This seems like a non argument and just looking to ignite fire in a wet place or somebody just dunce.

Hello!!! Every time I travel to Guyana the first thing I do is to lodge my Canadian Passport at the Canadian High Commissioners' Office for safe keeping for the duration of my stay. They never refused to do this.
I started this practice since the days when it was easy to replace photographs in passports and sell them for between 5 - 7 thousand US$ and I still do it. Looking after the security and safety of their citizens is part of consular duties or so I was told a long time ago....
