Cricket is no longer sexy! Up to the 60s at least, every village in Ja had a ball grung (cricket field) The cricket club was the only organization in the community not counting school and church. Cricket matches were the main entertainment. The best cricketer is a celebrity he gets the girls etc. There u have the incentive to strive. Cricket was the greatest Avenue for exposure. Sponsor fight for the privilege to engage. Radio/TV fight for broadcast rights. Turn out at matches at all levels was great this put players in the spotlight. Result? Perform or else

folks have plenty other options now vs then...plus, the people who run things in cricket took it all for granted
