Virat ...
In reply to Raggs
Didnt get the job done.
Nice innings.
I am more amazed at ole man Dhoni systematically working over the opposition.
Didnt play a match since Nov. kept throughout in the brutal heat and then to run fast for those singles and doubles.
In reply to goofballs
But Lara GOLDEN DUCK - ADELAIDE.
In reply to Raggs
Non-West Indian?
In reply to Khaga Indian?
In reply to goofballs if you made a substantial contribution and your side won you got it done in my books.
Kolhi has to be one of the best ever and he is not close to the end yet
Virat, King Kohli, That is all!
Yeah, allyuh talk nah!
In reply to goofballs
Here is why you should also be amazed by Kohli.
He scored 104 off 112 balls with only 5 fours and 2 sixes. That means he scored 72 runs off 105 balls without boundaries. That is a scoring rate of 68 without boundaries.
That is astonishing.
I am unaware of any other great batsman who is capable of doing that. What that means is, he has to take less risks hitting fours and sixes if he can score at greater than 4 an over without boundaries.
In reply to Dukes
And Y'all getting excited about Tage with his + 350 dot balls?
In reply to runout
They cant talk nah.
In reply to Larr Pullo
We are talking about Kohli and you mention Tage?????
In reply to Dukes
It's the same fella head over heels for Devon.... what do you expect?
In reply to Raggs
guy's a genius
In reply to VIX
tek you licks like a man larr...
In reply to RemainsUnknown
Larr and I were at Sabina Park and we witnessed Devon score a great 100 against England. Larr can not get that innings out of his head.
I did not get over that innings until about 4-5 years ago, so be patient with him.
Sooner or later he will have a COME TO JESUS moment and the scales will fall from his eyes and then BEHOLD!!!! HE WILL SEE THE COMING OF HEMRAJ!!!!!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
In reply to Dukes
How many FC tons does Hemraj have? And yes I like Hemraj, I think he'll definite ly force himself into the team if he continues in the same vein.
In reply to Dukes
It's an indelible mark, I see...... oh well.... too bad, one swallow does not a summer make.
In reply to Dukes
Even though many of the modern greats had the unique ability to pierce the field with placement (I rate Lara better than all the others), Virat's ability to run, converts 1s to 2s and 2s to 3s is astounding. As AssoLarr noted (he does make sense on occasions), conditions haven't changed too much since the 90s and early 2000s and comparisons between the modern greats across eras is NOT an outlandish exercise. Virat combines many text book shots, exceptional ability to place, using his supreme fitness to run the 1s and 2s and extraordinary awareness of match situations in producing these remarkable knocks.
In reply to Khaga we all know why Lara wasn't fund of running singles.
In reply to Larr Pullo
I was merely using Hemraj as a metaphor.
In reply to natty_forever
Fund of?
In reply to Khaga… spell check. Marlon saw to that.
Kohli has forced his way to the top of the current crop, no doubt, and the right to have his name called with the past greats. He is the ultimate run machine and soon references to Bradman may have to be to the second best batsman ever.
In reply to Dukes
That is astonishing.
I am unaware of any other great batsman who is capable of doing that. What that means is, he has to take less risks hitting fours and sixes if he can score at greater than 4 an over without boundaries.
Careful, some "experts" may interpret that as meaning he is unable to reliably hit boundaries without taking needless risk.
In reply to Khaga
Non-West Indian..Alien ....any form of being....best for me.
In reply to Dukes
I am glad I stayed up all night to watch this batting and run chase clinic.
Shows how to score runs without necessarily hitting boundaries. Played easily, except for hustling like crazy to convert ones into twos and some threes. Thought he would have killed that Rayadu guy at times for his slowness.
Dhoni scored his 50 with just one boundary (a six). In the last over he did hit another one. So he ran for almost all of his runs, plus Kohli's runs. Then Ramdin forced the pace (of running) further. Dhoni was game but I was afraid he could have dropped dead.
That's how some previously healthy folks without heart problems collapse in that brutal heat, with dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, arrhythmia, etc.
In reply to natty_forever
True Bhai. It was tongue in cheek comment to mimic some whose job is to find a fault, or leader of the opposition.
In reply to goofballs
In reply to Raggs
He better than IVA now.
In reply to goofballs
Dhoni, is one the best I've seen in a run chase.
the man just never looks bothered.
Great batting all-round by those two
Virat just stuff all the loud mouth detractors here who says
India is a fake number 1. They dont win overseas. Say what?
Virat is a Flat track bully. He promptly Slap a couple a hundreds in Australia Nuff said

The FEAR that Viv put in fast bowlers like Willis, Imran, Hadlee et al no other batsman has come near. They were genuinely scared of being embarrassed by Viv.
In reply to Dukes
Viv was something else..he intimidated umpires too, even without bat in hand..
In reply to Dukes
Dukes, fearful fast bowlers??? Really?
Never knew that quality existed in fast bowlers, especially Imran, Willis and Hadlee
But I get the point.
In reply to Dukes
At least something got stuck in his head.
In reply to googley

FEAR? Intangibles, like one of the traits Sammy possess? Lol. Just kidding. I was fortunate to meet Viv and never saw him batting live (in his pomp), but know of his body of work. The GOAT, indeed.
In reply to RemainsUnknown
I saw Viv in England in 1976 and in 1980.In 1980 at Lords he was so devastating that Trevor Bailey said that watching him bat reminded him of when he was a 12 year old boy bowling to one of his masters in school.I remember Viv at Old Trafford in 1980,when he decided to take on Bob Willis. He refused to run any singles and stayed at the end that Willis was bowling and kept hitting him for boundaries. He hit Willis for 13 boundaries and Willis ended up with 14 overs for 99 runs.Remember Bob Willis was quick and took 325 test wickets when that was a very high number.
In reply to Dukes
Viv was something else and the air of expectation around the ground was quite evident when he walked to the crease...Saw him make a hundred against India in 1983. First ball forward defensive push for four off Venkat.. Viv was a supreme timer.
In reply to Raggs
Kholi already I can rate him as one of the greatest of all time.
May or not be the most gifted but definitely he uses his talents and abilities very well.
