It is about time. For the last 20 years England has faced the weakest Windies team at home and abroad.

At home at them

They are decent side, but they got screwed by the selectors! England problem is that they have too many players to choose from and ended up with the wrong XI. Broad would have made an impact in the first test.

Cook was in the team that beat India. This is a group of bits n pieces ODI players mixed with some green ones.

Trust you to explain it

Ridge 2019-02-02 15:44:10

In reply to voiceofreason
I disagree. Cook is the only player that is not here that trashed India a few months ago.
This a fantastic performance by the Windies.

StarBatsman 2019-02-02 15:53:10

Find a good bowling attack and you will rule the world! I wish them good health and strength.

We need to build a pool of about 8 fast bowlers , and keep them fit , and sharp then winning ways will be ours.

In reply to Ridge

Rory Burns 30.12 after 4 tests
Bairstow averages 37.38 after 61 tests
Root 49.87 after 78
Buttler 34.76 after 30
Stokes 32.88 after 51
ALI 30.28

One batsman averaging over 40. This is an average team. They rely heavily on an aging Anderson who is more effective when there is swing around. Ordinary team without Cook.

West Indies did very well due to JHO's ad Dowrich's allround skills, Roach with help from Gabriel and ALJO. Batting is still a major concern.

This England team won 7 of their last 8 test and beat the world #1 team

This second test turned out to be just a practice match for the Windies fast bowlers. smile smile smile

Conorboy 2019-02-02 17:36:03

This is a very strong England team on paper however their batsmen lack guts. Too used to playing on friendly pitches and t 20 slashing. Too many all rounders who don't know what their chief responsibility is.

tekiteazy123 2019-02-02 17:47:02

This is the strongest England side that came to the Caribbean in a long time so stop talking shit, I know some people would find something negative to say.

In reply to cricketmad Very good point. I've expressed similar sentiments

camos 2019-02-02 18:34:07

this is not that weak a side. the new ball pair has more than 1000 wickets, it is a better batting side than WI.

analyst-kid 2019-02-02 22:43:56

Agreed. This is a better batting side than the WI but as I exposed the bowling stats before the series started WI has the stronger bowling attack in WI conditions and overall a stronger pace attack.

The allround abilities of Holder Dowrich and Chase gave WI the edge in the batting in respect of the results.

Bravo is vital to WI batting and his long innings of 50 is a very good sign.

One batsman averaging over 40 shows how weak the England batting is. They have lots of players who look good in English seaming conditions but are found wanting abroad. Is there really nobody to succeed Anderson and Broad?

Yes, they won in Sri Lanka, but that's a team in decline. Yes, they beat India at home. But that just shows there's no real number one who dominates at home and abroad the way we used to in the good old days.

Also remember that Pakistan went to England and tied their test series 1-1. With England and Australia looking like weak sides, the Ashes won't be worth watching.

WICFan 2019-02-03 07:01:28

Let England worry about England.

A few of the other international sides are either rebuilding, going through a dip or approaching the end of it's cycle.

Maybe the Windies will benefit.

mittheimp 2019-02-03 07:21:35

They just won 7 on the trot... and yet, Root aside, man for man based on their test stats they were no better than us. Windies, players however are younger, less experienced and generally on an upward trajectory.

TanteMerle 2019-02-03 07:50:50

It just baffles me how:
When Wondies win, hexcuses them comes.

You guys are full of shite.
Wondies won by fielding and bowling.
Of course, supported by batting.

Stop praising Cameron
He's still a skunthole.
Stop praising Pybus,
Jury is still out.
Don't praise Wavel,
He's another shunkhole.

Give praise were it is due.
At least what is visible.

Players striving without senior help
herego experience being gained daily
No mentor to assit

Praise to health of:-
Cockaroach, Gabriel, Holder
Whenever they were out (separately)
bowling struggled.
Holder mised last tour and: -
1. Braffit is no cappo.
2 Holder allound spot was missed.

Praise to improved fielding:-
1. Don't know who gets credit.
2. Maybe coaching.
3. Maybe attitude.
4. Maybe increased fitness.
5. Maybe increased age/maturity.
5. Maybe increased touring.

I still see weaknesses:-
1. Too much glamour boy attitude.
*nutting wrong wid big gold chains,
but wear thm inside ya shirt on field.

2. Need to take this game by game
*every game will not be this easy
*some days will be harder
*take baby steps.

3. Biggest weaknesses batting IMO
*lack of concentration
*lack of application
*Lack of desire for big scores
*lack of learning from previous mistakes

*Trying the likes of: -
K. Powell (need batting coach)
D. Shit (I mean Smith)enough said

In Summary:-
Over the years, Wondies suffers from
Bad management (i.e. governance)
Bad treatment and poor pay leading
to many follwoing T20 and Kopak deals.
Bad treatment leading others to choose
other teams like Hingland (e.g.Archer)
Bad management (governance)
Too many good players can't make teams
*i.e. not enough development of youths.
i.e. Where is a Under 23 4-day team
i.e. Where is a College 4-day team
i.e. What about Canada and USA in our 4-day
i.e. What about more A-Team tours
i.e. What about better scheduling.

I can go on forever..
