I will never forget that day, I may not have deserved it, but I felt a wash of redemption.

In the context of its usage, it is quite appropriate to convey the deep inner feeling of the victim

I thought it was going to be one of those typical bashing, but like Prump...surprise, surprise, surprise!

Quite a beautiful piece, work of art really as well as full of patios.

Her description is so vivid, with the blunt truth calling it as she saw it, blatantly honest, not pulling any punches.
That is what made it and the emotions real life.

Is she Naipaul's family?
I haven't seen any of the usual suspect jumping in to eat her.

make that pathos, not necessarily patois although I think she mentioned it.

Half breed, half caste all same difference in the eyes of some.

No.

Her father is Trinidad of African decent of Afro Trinidadian. He was never a popular man but did well in life. Apparently he always yearned to see her.

The lady is now an American resident and doing quite well in California.

I just meant her style with her vivid description.

The bigger issue illustrated here, quite sadly, is that every kid needs both parents in their life, especially growing up.

Absolutely, and the sad irony is in many many situations, the mom raises the child all alone without the father, and only because the father decided to MIA, then when the child grows up and can then act on the burning desire, to meet, feel and touch the father, that child then blames the mother for "keeping me away from my Daddy."

The mother, in most cases, all alone and with the strain of finances and other life pressures, more often than not, isn't an ideal mother, so the child ends up in a poor state both emotionally and civically.

This situation- of signal parent (mother only) home is literally decimating my people in the USA.

Society has to hold men more responsible for raising their children.
