Dissing Gayle ..Poor sportsmanship Hope!!!

As youngsters, Hope and Others must have a bit of respect for the mature players in West Indies Cricket.
Gayle has had numerous ailments that have caused him problems
over the years. I view Hope anger today as disrespectful
to a player who has given us and fans Worldwide enjoyment
in the gentleman's game of Cricket.
It saddens me to see a great player in the game, disesteemed by a youthful player.
Aging has a wonderful beauty and we should have respect for that.

Many teams across all sports have generation gaps. This team is one where the dominant culture is a relatively young one.
Young captain. Young players. Fairly well established team culture.

Charlie is famous for running out his captain, and idol, Garry Sobers in the 1969 Lords Test. He recalls the incident with great fondness. Garry just said, F*** man Charlie, as he went past me. So I tell myself, hold on, its better to stay in here than get out and go to the dressing room.
He stayed put for 371 minutes to make his maiden hundred. At Lords. He had to go to the dressing room during the break and was confronted by Basil Butcher. Butch tells me, The skipper dont run singles, and I went, You are telling me this after six weeks in England! Again, that lovely laughter. Garry was nice to me, you know. He doesnt hold any grudges. In fact he made me sit, brought out the lunch and said, Dont remove your pads yet. Bat on!

i am not you, who promise to sue a poster on behalf of one of your hommies,
no partner should turn their back on the other and then run hard when on strike, especially the single to reach 50.
i was taught to run your partners run, that is respect, in fact when your partner is on strike, you work double to get it off strike.
it 's is not like Gayle cannot run, you recall how quickly he got that single to reach 50.

Tamarind Jones, what you recall is a difference scenario, Sobers did not refused to run Davis singles, neither did Charlie refused to run Sobers' . Sobers did not turned his back on the rook Charlie.
Here is the world boss refusing to run legitimate singles when his partner is on strike, but when he is on strike, running hard.
if you ever don a pair of pad, you would understand Shai position, that down wrong.

It was not nice to diss the Universe Boss.
I hope you will accept that just because Gayle is Universe Boss in your world it does not mean he is Universe Boss.
I was at the ground and saw Hope spontaneously raise his arm in frustration at Gayle not taking a single that would have been on Gayle, or his Granny for that matter, was backing up. It was one of several instances. Nothing wrong with Gayle being cautious in his running but as non-striker he MUST back up. When he is batting sharp singles are on because his momentum carries him forward. If he simply backs up similar sharp singles can be taken to his partner's batting.
Hope's reaction was natural and hardly disrespectful. I suspect that he would the same if his own mother was not paying attention at a critical moment in a competition. And that is the frustration with Gayle, not that he is slow between wickets but that he is lackadaisical as a non-striker and not backing up.

Sgtdunce this post is much to do about nothing.
Everyone knows Gayle doesn't want to run. He never did! That's a plus for the opposing team who will be running hard.
I'm sure the West Indies team talk are to pick up as many singles and reduce our high dot ball count. Not just to do this when Gayle gets outs.
Wunna is de same ppl that like to cuss when ppl have poor strike rates. Yes Gayle can make up for it with boundaries but that only improves his strike rate not yours.
That would be frustrating is hell running long ones and not putting pressure on the fielders.

At least he didn't do him like Samuels did Lara...

Or what Morton did to Shiv ...

Thanks for noticing and drawing attention to the crude, uncouth, cocky attitude.
Who are you referring to here? Gayle or Hope???

As a general rule I hate to see players show-up teammates on the field, regardless of seniority. Those things should be addressed in the dressing room or in the middle between overs. I hated it when Benn did it to teammates and I hate when I see Gabriel doing it nowadays. But I did not see the incident between Hope and Gayle.

So because he is a trini you can read Bish thoughts and I cant. Why not just ask Bish if he felt he was being inappropriately disrespectful to Gayle or if Bish was just concerned Hope would lose his concentration at the crease in frustration.

By the way, I your own words, why don't you describe exactly what Hope did that you thought was "disrespectful".

I am wondering about your logic, the more you dig the deeper you will end up.
I never said I can read Bish thoughts.
I saw what happened on the field and heard Bish comments immediately. He told Hope' watch it', in Trini jargon it means dont do such again.
Notice what it means in Trini jargon?

So we have a bunch of youngmen being constantly derided for their slow scoring rates. Hope's game is not on the power level as Gayle's so knocking the ball around is where he effects the game. So now he has to change his way of batting. Even the game before he while he totalled in the 60's he left many 1s and twos out there. We are not going to consistently beat top teams like that. So he and the other youngsters must just become passengers on the team and lose focus because Gayle is in the lineup?

Trini jargon. lol. Means the same in Bajan jargon, sarge. Unless you can make a claim that "watch it" is used exclusively when youngsters are showing disrespect to their elders then you just blowing smoke.

I gone a few days and see you were getting attacked by de watchdogs!
Maybe the dream team
Robert Shapiro, Johnnie Cochran, Robert Kardashian, (brothers) Jacob Thielen and Jon Thielen, Barry Scheck, F. Lee Bailey, Alan Dershowitz, Gerald Uelmen, Carl Douglas, Kevin Ewell, and Peter Neufeld.
Or they dream that they are the dream team.
I saw indiscipline, a certain degree of entitled cockiness and blatant disrespect of another player, whether he is great or not.
I would call him out on it in the dressing room and tell him to watch it..........unless his obedience to masta is all that counts.
The concern here is

Such is normal when one cannot dispute facts attacking the
messenger is par for the course. Forget the gist of the
thread; support the hommies seems to be their motive..
I called out Gabriel and Polly for unsportmanship conduct when it occurred.
