would outlive both Tony Cozier and Tony Becca?
Reds survived that major stroke years ago and is still going as the last of that threesome.
I got to know Becca when we were both Directors of the Portmore League.
He was ill for a long time. Now the pain is no more.

Who would have thought that Reds Periera
In reply to Chrissy
Why not use yourself as a prop instead of Reds Periera?
In reply to Courtesy
i was going to suggest Dukes or Fuzzy but yeah the post originator would do
In reply to sudden
It's not nice and insensitive to start a thread like this and further, she is the ideal poster girl.
In reply to Chrissy
tell us, seriously, what is the purpose of this thread?
In reply to sudden
That meme has gotten stale.
In reply to sudden
I see your reference to "meme" on another thread was not palatable to the Dukes.
In reply to Dukes
hahaha which meme is that youngster?
In reply to sudden
I have made several references to the superiority of the Cawmere education which you considered to be stale and now your repeated references to my supposedly aged status I consider stale.
Simple
In reply to Courtesy
The three of them were the dominant commentators of their generation.
In reply to Dukes
You know what is funny? They don't refer to Lloyd and Murray and Richards and Roberts etc as old men. And they are all older than I am. I am comfortable with my age and condition..not all will get there
In reply to Chrissy
OK, in that regard. I still think the phrasing of the thread is insensitive.
In reply to Chrissy
Reds still dominant, was just last week I was saying to Yammie that I would love to hear him more often than the Windwards games.
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
I wouldn't mind buying your 1969 Ferrari Dino 246 GT if it is in good condition.

In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
relax yuh ole ass Sourpuss. yuh got my message right?
In reply to sudden
...and replied captain strident
In reply to Courtesy
Who cares? Certainly not me and I'm sure not Reds. Reds and I have been friends most of our lives.
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
It's like they think anyone will escape death.
It's just part of life - beginning and end.
I'll never understand people's fear of death.
In reply to Chrissy
You may not care but not everyone would have this attitude. You are getting on as if you are singing "I am the world, I am its people."
In reply to Courtesy
huh? Tek yuh meds and chill.
In reply to Chrissy
It's silly to resort to ad hominems. Foolish and childish to the max. I would never tell you out of the blue while debating an issue..."make sure you have Depends undergarments on before you stink up the place." I would never post that...'cause it's foolish to so do. But you know what they say about persons who resort to this debating stategy?
In reply to Chrissy
3 giants indeed.
Reds still standing...happy to hear him still.
A legacy has been left.
Keep that heart rate at 60....I am trying too
In reply to Chrissy Chrissy, I grow up listening to Roy Lawrence. He made listening to cricket sounds so easy.

would outlive both Tony Cozier and Tony Becca?
Two Guyanese posting insensitive posts about death and language of a youth
or
Two insensitives posting?
I love Reds, but what a way to bring his name up!!
Not a good POINT of reference (to me). Maybe it is the NORM somewhere else.
GM Queen at work, God forbid!
I have to wuk my black tongue now or do a pooja to save the man.

I meant to bring his name up when some Indian asked if Guyana ever produced a commentator as bad/good as Duj.

The late Bruiser Thomas

In reply to mikelegend
What year?
Must have been before my time.
In reply to goofballs
Suggested thread title: "Two from a trio of great West Indian commentators gone beyond."
Editorial judgment or lack thereof was sadly lacking.
In reply to Dukes
Simple
Sensitive much? Yuh old skunt....

In reply to Courtesy
I wrote what I wanted to write - by the way which great beyond? Their lives are over - finished.
In reply to Chrissy
If you are quoting me at the very least, quote me correctly. Did I say "great beyond?"
"Beyond" is simply: "the unknown after death."
"Great beyond" connotes an entirely different thing. You can fool your minions with this level of disingenuity but not this Courtesy.
In reply to Larr Pullo
I am absolutely NOT SENSITIVE about my age.
I am 62 years old and proud of it.
I know what I have done and what I could still do and what I plan to do with the rest of my life.I am contented and happy.
I hope that IF/WHEN some of you reach 62 you would have my attitude and good fortune.
In reply to Chrissy
Tony Becca was a journalist...not a commentator..psshhh!!!
In reply to Avatar
They were cricket media men at the same time - even you know what I meant.
Akshai has a nice piece in the Gleaner today
In reply to Chrissy
Sir Everton has a wicked sense of humor.

I agree with all of what you said in this thread and even about being quoted inaccurately.
As you said, one could relay that same message, but saying it differently, esp. if you're regarded as an intellect amongst your peers and in society in general.
After all, age [and being old than your peers] should not be the most integral factor why someone is still alive.
Since tomorrow is never guaranteed, everyone is fair game in this thing we call life [& death].
Anyway... I completely understand where you're coming from and one would expect some folks here to have understood that as well......oh well.....

It is the first time that anyone has supported me here...thanks much for going against the grain of thought of this MB and for not joining the minions club. You have stood out and distinguished yourself from the ordinary here.
Anyway I believe,..."one man/woman who is right is the majority."
In reply to Courtesy
man,if the doyen of comportment on this MB never broached the issue of whether this thread was insensitive or not with Chrissy, why do you think you will get any traction?
In reply to sudden
Now I must admit you've got a POINT considering his age, it must have hit home but too indisposed to squeal. I hope I am on POINT with your comment and you are not referring to the Duke of Earl or half pint of Powen.
In reply to Courtesy
on a POINT of order, i was referring the Duke of Hazzard, Sir
In reply to sudden
OK "never broached the issue" should have set me on the right path.
Hola...what's the issue here????..Uncle Reds's nephews and us have been friends for donkey years up here in Toronto..Met uncle Reds many times when he get up here...and everytime we get together(meaning the nephew and us) there is always an inquiry about"How is Uncle Reds/"...
and the nephew always reply'..Unlce Reds going strang strang..etc etc"
He did had an issue sometime back...but uncle Reds going strang strang.
Adios
