Winward Islands..
In reply to camos
The Jamaican votes halready pon lock. No need to dish out goodies
In reply to imusic
yes that is costing the country a lot!
In reply to camos
Goodies? They bidded and were awarded on that basis.
In reply to camos
Well if that's how you see it windwards have four stadiums
In reply to silver
This happens when people think with their bottoms...they usually make asses of themselves.
Him didn't think of 4 stadia in the Windwards.
In reply to camos
How you are feeling right now is exactly how CAMERON and CWI wants it- they want us (territories & fans) to fight each other about who is getting more matches, resources etc. That is the classical old way to divide and conquer.
Don't let it work my brother.
If Windward Island (and there are no country called Windward Island, but ah know weh you mean) get 5 or 6 or 7 games and Trinidad got none, then lets just be happy for them while working to create a new way that will ensure each territory gets an equitable piece of the pie.
In reply to Courtesy
must be a reason DDave neglecting Ja
In reply to sudden
Yep. There is absolutely no competitive bidding on the hosting of cricket matches. The other islands "just say the word and their souls are healed" by Dave.
In reply to Courtesy
BTW what is the "Winwards Islands'?
In reply to sudden
They win the competitive bidding.
In reply to Courtesy
or wininig those matches was because the bidding tilted towards them islands
In reply to sudden
Yep. Jamaica did not put itself in a position towards attaining a contract by submitting a bid.
In reply to Courtesy
but Ja has 2 stadia or is it stadiums
In reply to sudden
I think if I were writing a bid to host cricket matches on behalf of the Jamaican government, I would use stadia. Elsewhere, stadiums is just fine. But I get the tenor of your post.

Big island small island argument all over again

This is an area I will not venture...ask Chrissy who speaks with unbridled authority on this matter and I am in support of her.

This is an area I will never venture...ask Chrissy who speaks with unbridled authority on this matter and I am in support of her here.

so how do u explain the angst of the thread originator?
In reply to sudden

Simple...He is venting a whole heap of codswallop as usual.

It eh bidding anymore when you agree to forego rental of the ground and absorb the cost of ground staff who have to wait months before dey get paid. Its just another example of the lack of consensus among CARICOM Countries
Jamaica is 2.5 million while the so-called Windward Isles are merely 500,000. Each of the 4 Windwards (except for Dom) has at least one an international airport. Besides, the economy (collective) of the Windward Islands is in a better shape than Jamaicas. There isnt the level of security concerns in the OECS countries as there is in Jam.
In reply to sudden
camos is an engineer. Spelling is a constant problem.
His actual nick is camoose.
In reply to Kalinago
Should we invoke the per capita conundrum, that's 125,000 per stadium (4) for the Windwards.
Contrast that to 1.25 million per stadium (2) for Jamaica.
Why would it appear equitable for the Windwards to be awarded more games without the population to support them?
In reply to Commie
At least camos is from a country boasting two well known international airports.
As per Kalinago (as quoted above), Dominica (Dom) doesn't have any. Backwards if you ask me.
The people of the Windward Islands are more cricket hungry than Jamaica. It is easier to mobilize smaller communities. The larger the community the more there are competing activities.
In reply to Drapsey
Could safety be a concern. Not too long ago Jamaica was under a state of emergency
In reply to Kalinago
I understand. That's why it manifests itself in the attendance at those 4 stadiums/stadia.
I can clearly recall the first test match in St. Kitts when footage of the attendees was beamed. It shows Skerritt with his daughter, the press core, broadcast technicians, about 3 hundred fans scattered about the park (hope they were paying fans), plus 4 men sitting at a table under a tree playing dominoes.
In reply to silver
I can't recall any reports of (violent) crimes being committed against cricket fans (or sports tourists of any kind).
I wouldnt describe Dominica as backwards. St. Lucia got their airport due to hemispheric countries security concerns, Grenada got theirs due to Cold War politics, St. Vincent just got theirs most recently due to Venezuelan, Mexican, Ecuadorian, Vincentian cooperation. Jamaica, Trinidad, Barbados, St. Lucia, Guyana got their airports during British colonialism. All the Windwards, with the exception St. Lucia got their airports when they became independent. It was the biggest capital project in all of those countries. It is not that Dominica is backwards, just unfortunate.
In reply to Drapsey
Dude, Jamaica also has Bob Marley and Usain Bolt. Doesnt help you sing or run faster.
Stop vesting yourself. Camos cant spell. End of.
In reply to Commie
Hello Commie.
And you can't punctuate.
Now you're even (and it's not because you two share the same last name).
There is no country call Windward Islands but guess what, the Windward Isles is more of a country than the archaic West Indies. At least the the Windward Island have a common n currency, and a stable one too ($2.70 to the US dollar).
In reply to Courtesy
Dude! there are 6 members of the WICB, it does not matter how many stadium a member has, Jamaica can't argue for two test because it has two stadiums, be careful of the reforms you seek!
In reply to camos
I wonder what was the purpose for starting the thread? You have left me flummoxed now.
In reply to Commie
Commie, garcon sa ka fet?
In reply to Courtesy
Mainly to show InHindSight that Windward have not done too badly with Cameron, following Hunte!

from the recent series is this equitable,
You may wish to elucidate or do you think the allocation above is equitable?
....................
My take on your take: The winwards got all this and here we have MBers complaining about TNT getting so much for CPL. Now what if Jamaica with two stadia got all these games would folks complain?
As if the games were given to Winwards to the disadvantage of our countries. Man get a grip...there was a competitive bidding process.
In reply to Courtesy
I asked if so many games were played in Ja or any of the other WICB members, you think there would be no complaint ? Do you think this allocation had the election in mind.
In reply to camos
I will never cast aspersions on Dave Cameron knowing full well that all countries were free to bid on these games.
In fact, the new BDS govt chastized the DLP for not tendering on the Womens' World Cup.
Blame your govt for not tendering not Dave Cameron nor the recipient countries which saw the value of hosting and made it their duty to bid...stop believing in free lunches.
Lets hope Point and prvjones is reading this thread.
The two is of the assumption that Bim favour Cameron because they get a number of matches.
In reply to camos
By the way dere eh have any Winward Islands in de Caribbean
In reply to Maispwi
Reagan said US troops invaded Granada, do you think he was talking about some other location?
In reply to sudden
You surely did not go to school with Che under Col Noot
In reply to tc1
what ever do you mean my good man?
In reply to camos
While this is true, when games are held in the islands, it's not the member board that oversees the game, its the local board of the country that does. So, their obligation stretches farer and wider than 6 members

And meanwhile... In X big island, it would be even a worse performance:
"Kamrun w/o his daughter, the impressive core, broadcast technicians, about 3 hundred fans scattered about the park, plus 3 women sitting at a table under a tree playing dominoes."
In reply to camos you have to place in the top 5 in PCL to get a match.
Double Post
