TRUMP TO DIVIDE, CONQUER AND RULE CARIBBEAN

Emir 2019-03-20 10:25:18

U.S. President Donald Trump has invited the leaders of the Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica and Saint Lucia to his Florida resort on Friday to discuss Chinese "predatory economic practices" and the crisis in Venezuela.

Jamaica and St Lucia must blank this meeting- they should not meet with this pretender. Lets see if they succumb.

They probably don't have the guts like Bim and T&T..

What a joke...

I hope they do withdraw though..

Notice that two of the leaders have bauxite plants owned by one of the sanctioned Russians.

Looks like the daughter's trip to St Lucia was not vacation after all.

Deading with laugh.

Let's see if they do.

Good point.

Interesting. Jamaica has bauxite plants owned by Russians and Chinese.

China took over one in St Bess that looked as if it was closed for eternity.

This will be a big test for Andrew Holness.

Did Barbados refused an invitation? The article states that T&T was not invited but nothing about Bim...

Unlikely. Barbados and TT have been the most vocal about non intervention in Venezuela, which comprises a major agenda on the meeting. Neither was ST Kitts and Nevis who have also been vocal and neither was Antigua who has been the most vocal and have even called the head of the OAS a hawk

A uwi st Lucian lecturer describes their PM as trumplike. So I guess that's why he is invited

So when will American Govts discuss America's "predatory economic practices" for the last three decades in the Caribbean. Now that China is matching them globally they want to play "good cop" and label China "bad cop"

It's good for CWI to divide and rule but not good for Trump. Divide and rule in Caricom didn't start with this issue.

HYPOCRITES.

lol lol lol

Allyuh really delusional if you think any of these 2 x 4 islands is going to turn down an invitation from the USA to discuss among other things economic matters which include investment.

Extra, Extra...read all about it: Saint Lucian Prime Minister snubs US President.

lol

Why not?

Like Manley and Castro they must stand firm in the face of imperialism and lead their citizens to prosperity!

Politics has a morality of its own. Let the sanctimonious ones here preach their solidarity and morality. When they are ready to feed the mouths of the citizenry they will affix their names or cause it to affixed to the ballot paper.

For more than a decade, an energy alliance with Venezuela guaranteed a stable flow of oil to desperate Caribbean and Central American nations as they purchased millions of barrels on preferential payment terms from the oil-rich South American nation.

The generous deal — 60 percent paid up front, the remainder payable over 25 years at one percent interest — allowed nations like Haiti, Jamaica and others to use the savings to fund social projects for the poor and control pump prices at a time when $100-a-barrel oil prices threatened to gut government coffers.

Then came the crushing crisis in Venezuela and U.S. sanctions. Now, both seemed to have accomplished what the U.S. had long attempted to do ever since the PetroCaribe oil alliance was launched by President Hugo Chávez in June 2005 with 14 countries: kill it.

The effects of US sanctions of the Venezuelan economy

Some of these fools in here will never understand it. Like subjects, they just fall for the imperialistic propaganda.

In this thread lies perfect comparison of pertinent professional opinion and failed obsolete professional opinion.

Glaring how failed obsolete professionals align and compare every discussion or issue with personal agenda in desperate attempt at relevance ..

Pathetic really.
