IOC reports that they are adding Break-Dancing to its list of sports, to attract more young people, gender neutrality and a urban attraction. Ok but what about cricket, which is more of a real sport?

You know where to send your question. IOC is more than happy to include cricket. But not beach cricket or indoor cricket or whatever.
If the ICC let the Olympics have cricket, China would immediately throw down 20 million for its programme.

The ICC put down roadblocks. I guess they want controlling rights
In reply to Scar
Exactly. They want full control, something the IOC would never relinquish.
In reply to Slipfeeler
when is break dancing coming in?
In reply to Slipfeeler
Until the ICC accept the whereabouts drug testing procedures carried out by WADA, then cricket will not be accepted.
However, the superstars of India are dead-set against the use of whereabouts drug-testing, claiming it's a breach of their human rights.
So, now we're in the unequal situation where Jamaica, for example, uses whereabouts drug-testing, while the BCCI refuse to accept the authority of the WADA-appointed body in India, NADA....
Until BCCI accept NADA, then don't expect to see cricket in the Olympics any time soon

Kind of a conundrum.
Cricket doesn't need India.
Cricket in the Olympics would get the Chinas, Japans, Koreas, invested in growing the game.
But the 1 billion plus India market would be sweet for the IOC people to reach.
And of course we know who runs the ICC.
So we're stuck. Bring on more dancing competitions instead.
break dance is infinitely more entertaining that cricket.
Probably because they don't know what to do with West Indies. Which country is that?
In reply to JamMack
Pretty sure that dealing with the West Indies as individual nations is an 'issue' that greatly pales in comparison to placating the BCCI.
Look how easily they got cricket into the Commonwealth Games some time back (and that was 50-over contests).
In reply to Tryangle
It would be T20 anway and each country would compete to play in the Olympics similar to how its done for soccer.
In reply to methodic
Next Olympics, I think.
