'Buju' bandits prowl: $142,000 robbery in Chaguanas

Reports of robberies and larcenies continued to come in throughout the nine policing divisions on Tuesday, with The Express being told of at least four reports of robbery with aggravation, and four reports of larceny (including housebreaking, store-breaking, and of the person).

Police, as a result, are once again reminding citizens to be cautious and not to make themselves easy targets for criminal elements.

This comes after both National Security Minister Stuart Young and Beyond the Tape host Insp Roger Alexander made comments on Monday alluding to a possible spike in crime due to “an upcoming concert”.

It was later specified to The Express that, similar to the Carnival and Christmas periods, police were expecting a “surge” in robberies and larcenies prior to the I Am Legend concert, which is to be headlined by Jamaican mega dancehall and reggae artiste Buju Banton on Easter Sunday.

Among the eight reports which came in, was one in which an estimated $140,000 in cash was stolen from a saleswoman in Chaguanas.

You cant do a simple calculation , so I dont trust you to count.

You are a pathological liar and post fiction.

Where is the 29 % reduction?

I await.

2 killings push toll to 151

TWO more killings on Saturday night have pushed the murder toll to 151 for the year to date. While the comparative toll for the same period last year was 160, this figure is of concern to senior officers in the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, who are worried the statistics may be showing that the 2019 murder toll may also cross the dreaded “500-mark”.

The latest victims are 29-year-old Aria Haynes, who was shot and killed in Port of Spain, and 28-year-old Mariba Superville, who was gunned down in Carenage.
