I've heard many of times Democrats push to do away with the electoral college but still want to keep the super delegates in regards to DNC voting for the presidential candidate

They set their own rules on delegates, just like the Republican party have their own rules.

I don't think you have a good grasp of the concept of delegates. I suggest you read up on it.

Like it or not, it is purely a party function, it has nothing to do with the general election.
