Thir­ty mem­bers of the Mus­lim gang from Port-of-Spain have been ar­rest­ed overnight af­ter a gun­fight be­tween ri­val gangs.

Po­lice have al­so iden­ti­fied a gang leader and 11 mem­bers be­lieved to have been be­hind the 'shoot­ing may­hem' that broke out in the cap­i­tal city on Thurs­day, which re­sult­ed in the im­me­di­ate re­sponse of of­fi­cers from the Or­gan­ised Crime and In­tel­li­gence Unit.

The in­ci­dent start­ed at Nel­son Street, where ac­cord­ing to in­tel­li­gence, it is be­lieved that orig­i­nal Mus­lim gang mem­bers who con­vert­ed to Rasta­far­i­an­ism and joined the Ras­ta City gang have claimed Nel­son Street as their turf now and were said to be “run­ning peo­ple out of their homes.”
