My teammate from Wolmer's Boys is wrong with this one.
We have 6 specialist batsmen in the squad (Lewis, Hope, Gayle, Hetymer, Pooran, and Little Bravo). More than likely only 5 will play in matches.
We have 4 allrounders (Holder, Brathwaite (?), Russell, Allen). More than likely only 2 or three will play in matches.
5 main bowlers (Roach, Coterell, Thomas, Gabriel, Nurse). More than likely only 3 will play in a match.
Pollard would have diminished our batting strength. Therefore, Duj is wrong.
His choice of Paul over Thomas is a toss-up. I back Thomas to bring some good surprises if given match time.
Dujon backs Brathwaite. I do not think he is a good cricketer, but he has the finest character as a person. Brathwaite and Nurse are the weakest links in our squad. Once they to put on our kit, they have my full support. (But, I hope those weak links do not play together in any match )

Dujon says, "Pollard instead of Little Bravo"
Was Dujon "Great"?
In reply to Larr Pullo
Dujon was really a great batsman. From a 14-15-year-old he batted as if should have been on the Jamaica team. He was a runs machine. Elegant and a wonderful cricket brain regarding what is going on in the field. At one time a brilliant fielder. From time to time he tried bowling medium pace (was never good at it)
Remember this... on the strongest Wolmer's team from 1970-75 he was often the reserve keeper. He made it to the WI team purely as a complete batsman. His shots through the covers were textbook beautiful and sublime. Circumstances warranted his skill as a keeper comes to the forefront, and therefore, as a team man, he just became better and better as a keeper and excelled.
Seriously, if Dujon had only batted 3-5 for WI; he would have been known as one of our legends as a batsman. He was that good (no joke). When we had him batting mostly at 6-7 on WI team, it is one of the prime reasons we could not be beaten between "81-91."

Dujon like he on something special?
Pollard ahead of Bravo?
Thomas deserve his spot.. Keemo should be in the squad ahead of Carlos not Thomas1
I feel like we are forgetting that we need to actually bat 50 0vers. That being said , Lil B will need to up his scoring rate , ODI cricket has changed significantly in the last 5 years or so.
It would be a gamble...wouldnt knock that decision if made, Bravo is really borderline for me.
I wish he was playing some form of organised cricket in the UK right now, in any bush league, just to acclimatise.
I'm worried about Lil B's SR, and form
I would more say Pollard for Pooran, Pollard adds more on the field than Pooran and is definitely more of a match winner on his day than Pooran. But I guess Pooran can back up as a wicket keeper if Hope gets injured.

Ok so let me get this straight. Dujon would omit a bowler who recently took 5 wickets for 21 runs in his last ODI. You cannot make this stuff up Note to Skerritt: Under no circumstances should Jeffrey Dujon be made a CWI selector!!!!
In reply to Walco
Even the best can sometimes say silly things.
In reply to solidrock
Dujon did not remember to look at Pollard's One Day record. Nobody who looks at his record could suggest he should be on the team. Like most of us Dujon is seeing Pollard in T20 form.
I hope and pray that Holder handles Thomas with due regard to the young man's strengths and weaknesses. Ironically Carlos may prove very useful in talking to Holder about how to use Thomas.
In reply to Headley
how u figure?
In reply to solidrock
Somebody obviously lick Duj inna 'im head ...
In reply to conman
Carlos is a very intelligent cricketer who has limited talent but who recognizes strengths and weaknesses in both team mates and opponents. He is the ultimate team man, hence his selection.
Whatever concerns we had about Lil B would have been eased in the ODI series vs England. He didn't kill the innings with just blocking. Played some very fast innings. Was a step in the right direction. I'll take him over Pollard anyday. Pollard cannot make the team as a specialist batsman!!!! Anybody who figures he can needs their head examining.
In reply to Headley
Maybe you should also look at Lil B's ODI record to understand what Duj is saying.
Pollard's T-20 form is also an indication of some kind of form.
And Pollard brings a lot in terms of fielding and experience, I wouldn't say Pollard for Lil B, I would say Pollard for Gabriel, we're carrying one bowler too many in the squad.
Useful titbit....
Slow poke Shiv has a better SR than lil Bravo in ODI's ...
In reply to jen
Four innings against England
40 off 30
25 off 37
61 off 59
7* off 14
a bit of a mixed bag really
In reply to Dukes
How you come to that conclusion, they sent you his MRI?
In reply to Kay
Let us not forget that this is still the Windies. It is quite possible that strike rate won't even factor into the equation as wickets start to fall..
In reply to DIEHARD
I did. Bravo's average is 32. Pollard's is 26.
Pollard is a better bowler than Braff or Nurse. He is also a better batsman than Braff or Nurse. He is a much, much better fielder than either. Why they were picked before him and it generated no discussion is probably due to factors beyond the boundary. Maybe the people who told him he is off the blacklist were not in full disclosure mode.
PS It could also be that Pollard has not shown much form in Regional One Day Cricket recently.
Pollard over Braffit.
There can be argument for Paul but not for Thomas who just took 5/21 in his last ODI and averages 27.Pollard is a POOR ODI player
In reply to Trinidave I like that better!
In reply to solidrock
agree with you but if russel cant\'t bowl he should not be in the starting eleven
Dujon was not a great player. He was a good player in a team with one great batsman and a few great fastbowlers.
In reply to Headley
He too like he Trini padna may be a little apprehensive about bowling at de international level.
Seriously though, other than for experience in cricket what set of List A stats wud you use to pick Pollard on a WC Team?
In reply to Maispwi
He has played 101 ODIs.
