Would Archer have been so promising....

If he had stayed and played in the West Indies?

As much as I wish the young man well, I really wish he was available to the West Indies. He seems like the best “prospect” that we have produced for a long time.

But is that because he went to England and was coached and developed there or is it that he is the best prospect and was lost to us?

I think of our current crop of fast bowlers, Joseph, Paul, etc and although they are very talented, none of them seem to be as good as Archer.

Hopefully the little stint at Northants will help Holder’s development, I think we all accept that when the West Indies players played on the County scene in bygone day’s, it helped their development.

No. Which is why the fake outrage over his decision to represent England is so perplexing. Our system isn't good enough to turn a mediocre teenage Archer into a world class senior player. If he had stayed he woulda been just another mediocre Bajan player who may or may not even make it to the senior team.

Plenty? From our system? Nutten tarl go so. Maybe one or few who act as outliers but that's about it. He wasn't that special then, and hes only special now because he went to England. I wish him all the best in his career because his decision to leave is now really starting to pay off.
