The five biggest scams of all time.
In reply to methodic
Interesting.
How do you picture a world without the first three?

You will have a hard time coming up with a basis for all the items on this list.
In reply to methodic
add Christmas to the group, for obvious reasons.
In reply to methodic
I agree with all of the above.
All of them might not have started out that way but some people saw benefits in exploiting them.
I disagree with money and politics
Money really is the reason the world is able to advance at the rate it does
Much easier to do trade when every nation agrees on what a suitable currency is
Without politics the strong live and the weak die
Shucks!!! When I saw the title of the post I was expecting:
1. Trump
2. Teflon King
3. The Donald
4. The Dotard
5. Spanky

6. CARICOM
7. The (Dis)United States of America

Seems like you are craving for socialism.
Equal outcome for all is a nice concept!
The truth shall set you free

Democracy is the opposite of socialism?
Makes Scandinavian countries paradoxes.

agree
In reply to conman
Really! I thought that was the results of politics.
In reply to conman
you have fallen prey to the mis-philosophy that trade is more dependent on currency rather than human relations. For human relations to be successful there must be respect, integrity and compliance with a moral code.
If these principles do not exist then the currency doesn't matter because ulterior motives will prevail. And when ulterior motives prevail the one with the most power will always get the lion's share of the spoil.

I see that you denote religion in association with this statement. All religion are based on knowledge earlier men acquired. However, for the most part religious groups only base their doctrine on part of that knowledge.
The question that stumps religion is 'who created God'?

Your question in itself is fundamentally flawed. The God you reject is limited to time, space and matter. You would be right to reject such a God. God is not a "created being" as your question presupposes, He always was and always is. He exists outside the realm of the Universe that He created. He is not limited by time, space or matter. It's an incredible concept to apprehend.
The question you have to also ask though, is who created us? It's always interesting to hear the answer to that question outside the concept of a supreme God...

With time and a little bit of historical perspective, you might come to the realization of how damaging he has been, and the negative impact he has had on America and the world.
More insightful people are recognizing it now, but it may take a bit longer for His Kool-Aid drunks, should they ever remove their partisan blinders.
In reply to hotarobin
why you assumed I rejected God?
In reply to hotarobin
time and space themselves are unlimited
In reply to methodic
Well because if religion is a scam it means we inherently are scam artists since every single civilization had a religious foundation. Religion is the God personified to a culture. There is a reason why Jesus and pals were eating locusts and honey and not oil down. Drinking wine and not sorrel.
However if you are saying fundamentally it is a scam because it promises something enticing and that does not exist then no argument here.
In reply to hotarobin
How do you know that?
This is pure speculation.
In reply to nick2020
we might be confusing religion and spirituality here. Many cultures have a spiritual foundation
In reply to black
This is pure speculation.
How do you know that it isn't that? Any claim that opposes is equally speculative..
In reply to hotarobin
No dude, you are saying this with absolute certainty, that is speculation. It is not speculation for me to assert that evidence is lacking in your theory.
In reply to methodic
You are correct, I should not have made that assumptions. I tried to interpret a statement that makes no sense whatsoever.
In reply to hotarobin
the fact that it makes no sense to you is the definition of stumped
In reply to methodic
Agree
In reply to methodic
No. All cultures had/have some form of organized religion.
Stories, belief structure, defined characters, afterlife.
In reply to methodic
Inception stumps science as well.
In reply to methodic
And I am happy to be "stumped" and not buy in to you line of obvious obfuscation...
