So what's the final West Indies team? Who sits for these three?
In reply to mikesiva
OK looks like you were editing whilst I was asking the question...thanks.
No Roach... Angel takes long to bowl... Let's see how quickly they will get through these overs with no Nurse....
In reply to mikesiva
Mikey, good morning. This is a good team. A bit one dimensional bowling wise.
Pace and more pace. Hope we roll the Pommies over.
This is the best team we can currently put out there. Good call.
Shoot, Bravo out again.
In reply to mikesiva
So who will be handling the spin duties, Gayle?
In reply to runout
Morning, all!
Aashish Calla: "Gayle, Lewis, Hope, Pooran, Hetmeyer, Holder, Russell and Brathwaite - That is, without an iota of doubt, THE most destructive top 8 in ODIs, with all being six-hitters. This is a dream batting line-up!"
chotu: "That's a T20 side Windies are playing in an ODI.. except for Hope I don't see anyone playing an anchor role if they loss early wickets.."
Who's right?
Did I hear Bish says things hotting up in here???? LOL
In reply to Drapsey
Who needs spin when Nurse is your lead "spinner"? Besides, if we had Gabriel in the match against Australia, the match would most likely not have lasted as long.
In reply to Sangfroid
Lets go fellas. Is WI time.
Forget whos isnt playing. Lets ralllyyyyyyyyyyyy.
In reply to Sangfroid
Nuff movement for Woakes in that first over...maiden!
Archer to bowl now...two runs off the over.
Waste Indies goes with 6 pacers ??????
And no Bravo, again ??? No more comments from me.
I like how CG watching it. He means business.
Gayle taking sharp singles. He must've gotten a lot of talking to.
In reply to Drapsey
That was always coming....
Woakes bowls a yorker, a bit fuller, and Lewis bowled for two.
Lewis seems to have a suspect defensive technique.
Lewis is a walking wicket. Poor WC so far
In reply to runout
Inside edge by Gayle off Archer goes for four....
Gayle hammers Archer back past the bowler for four!
Next ball, pulls him to midwicket for four!
Gayle skied a delivery from Woakes, dropped by third man....
Gayle pulls Archer for four!
Roy pulls up running in the outfield...a hammy?
In reply to mikesiva
CG is taking them apart, literally.
Archer and Roy.
Archer bowling short and into the body of Hope, making him feel uncomfortable.
Gayle slaps Woakes down the ground for four!
Next ball, lifts him over his head for six!
In reply to mikesiva
We can defend a score of 265.
Glad to see Ashley given a rest, only concern is the middle order, I would have played Bravo instead of Lewis. Carlos is playing only b/c to cover Russell bowling work load
This is the ideal situation for Hope to excel.
He's not worn out from the drudgery of being behind the wicket for an entire inning with WI fielding first.
In reply to mikesiva
Shoite boy Hope 1 run off 17 balls?
In reply to nick2020
Hope 'fraid ah pace? Short ball into the body from Archer and Woakes.
Plunkett on now.
Cool down Hope. They are bowling good, no problem right now that you are not making runs.
I see Gayle handling the singles, but making the potential twos go to waste.
In reply to solidrock
Shai edges Plunkett past the keeper for a boundary...50 partnership up off 60 balls.
Plunkett strikes! Gayle out caught on the boundary for 36 from 41.
In reply to Sangfroid
No spinner? Where is the balance. Which self respecting team does not play a spinner? Having said that, maybe Nurse is injured...
Well, l hear you... lets work with what we have. Good luck Windies.
I blame Hope slow batting
12.6
Plunkett to Gayle, out Caught by Bairstow!! Trap set and Gayle falls for it. Plunkett is delighted. Remember he taken the most beating from Gayle in that away series in Caribbean. He had set the field for the short ball and kept banging them in with pace and without,
Gayle c Bairstow b Plunkett 36(41) [4s-5 6s-1]
In reply to mikesiva
Hang in there Windies
WI 54/2 (13.0) CRR: 4.15
Pooran 0(0
Shai Hope 11(29
Sahi Hope gawn too
13.2
Mark Wood to Shai Hope, out Lbw!! Morgan needed just 5 seconds to challenge Dharmasena's decision. That's how confident Wood and Buttler were. Full delivery that decks in sharply and catches Hope on the shuffle, he misses the flick as the ball beats the inside edge and strikes him in front of middle-stump. Ball-tracking showed it would have smashed into leg-stump.
Shai Hope lbw b Mark Wood 11(30) [4s-1]
Now with Hope gone, we are in "big trouble." Who will get us out of trouble?
In reply to Narper
Shai's tortured innings of 11 from 30 put out of its misery. A mercy killing....
WI 56/3 (14.0) CRR: 4

Step up on the world stage Pooran and hetty
In reply to RonaldM
Pooran with a lovely shot through the offside off Plunkett for four!
Hetmyer slapped Plunkett for four!

Hetmyer 7(11)
Pooran 11(12
In reply to mikesiva
The youngsters looking good... and finally SUNSHINE
Pooran has real natural ability.
Our young men are making the effort to become "cricket batting adults" today. Keep going and growing!
In reply to solidrock
West Indies 82-3 after 20 overs.
Pooran 14* (21)
Hetmyer 11* (20)
Hetmyer lifts Rashid over his head for four!
WI 103/3 (23.0) CRR: 4.48
Hetmyer 22(29)
Pooran 23(30)
Partnership: 50(60)

Adil Rashid to Pooran, SIX, to deep mid-wicket
WI 118/3 (25.0) CRR: 4.72

Hetmyer pulls Stokes to leg for six!
Next ball, in the vee, down the ground for four....
In reply to mikesiva
Dat was a 4 Mike.
4 plus 4.
25.2
Stokes to Hetmyer, FOUR, back-to-back fours for Hetmyer. These two are looking dangerous now.
25.1
Stokes to Hetmyer, FOUR, Hetmyer finally gets one away! It was marginally short and was on the stumps, Hetmyer backs away, keeps his shape and powers it wide of mid-wicket for a boundary
In reply to Courtesy
That mussi cause Hetmyer keep trying to hit a six....
Some shaky shots there, but both Pooran and Hetmyer moving towards their half-centuries.
They need to stay there for the next 10 overs at least.
Roy off the field still with a tight hamstring. Don't think he'll open the batting for England. Bairstow and Buttler?
In reply to mikesiva
Yep. Hety is trying to hit the ball too hard and he is losing his shape.
He looks more like a close to pension, old fashion cane cutter.
More cane cutting from Hetmyer.
I have seen enough.
141 for 3 after 29 overs. We are fighting back. Keep going.
In reply to Courtesy
Hetmyer gives it away...caught and bowled by Root for 39 from 48.
This was always on the cards. Hety is OUT.
Hety and Hope's stocks have fallen precipitously.
One is a cane cutter...the other fraid pace.
In reply to Courtesy
West Indies 145-4 after 30 overs.
Holder hammers Root over his head for six! Then, he's out c & b next ball to Root.
Holder looked slow like the Exxon Valdez playing this shot.
No self respecting batsman gets out this way at international level.
In reply to Courtesy
i agree. looked like catching practice
What happened with Holder? Did Root buy a wicket?
I was looking forward to big knock Holder
In reply to Courtesy
Bonus wickets to a part-timer.
In reply to solidrock
Both Hetmyer and Holder played for non-existent spin....
Pooran brings up his half-century from 56 balls!
Well done, young man....
Russell skied a ball from Rashid, and Woakes dropped it in the deep....
Our batsmen.
England catching.
That ball went so high it came back to Earth with ice on it.
In reply to Courtesy
Punishment for that drop! Russell hammers Rashid for six!
And another!
Looks like he injured his left wrist in the process....
In reply to mikesiva
Well 12 in the bank after the drop.
Keep going Russel. Nothing to lose from here.
Ambulance on the field to take care of Russel now.
In reply to Courtesy
Russell limping too, so the knee is still a problem...he's the walking wounded!
Russell slaps Wood for four!
In reply to mikesiva
Can he do a Gordon Greenidge?
4 more as I post.
Limping Russel is OUT.
In reply to Courtesy
Russell out for 21 off 16...deja vu?
Pooran sweeps Rashid for four....
West Indies 200-6 in 39 overs.
Morgan limping now.
Pooran out on review, caught behind off Archer for 63 from 78.
Wow, Thomas batting ahead of somebody.
This must be a first.
In reply to Drapsey
If Gabriel is in the team, well....
Cottrell out for a duck, and Carlos for 14. Brathwaite rarely ever offers anything with the bat these days....
43.4
Jofra Archer to Brathwaite, out Caught by Buttler!! Brathwaite looks disappointed - is it with his shot or was it at the umpire's decision. No reviews left and umpire Dharmasena has got another wrong. It clipped Brathwaite's elbow before lobbing through to Buttler - banged in short and Brathwaite was cramped for room on the pull, was through with the shot even before the ball arrived - past the swirling bat and hit his arm before going through to Buttler. Hang on! Dharmasena might have got this one right - UltraEdge has a big spike when the ball went past the bat - might have been a fine edge before clipping the arm.
Brathwaite c Buttler b Jofra Archer 14(22) [6s-1]
In reply to Narper
Good umpiring.
In reply to mikesiva
WI 212-all out (44.4) CRR: 4.75
Pathetic
Lets see what our 6 prong will do
There is no concept of taking singles, twos and building innings. Six or bust.
That score looks too small to defend. Well Windies are throwing pace by the boatload today, so heck. Go for it.
In reply to Narper
Archer 3-30
Wood 3-18
Root 2-27
Woakes 1-16
Plunkett 1-30
Right, off to work now....
Let's hit them with our space too.
What a strange stat, that.
Bairstow is on strike.
Cottrell will open the attack
In reply to Narper
Them jumping...go WI.

Proper batsmen that hit it along the ground when faced with big boundaries.

Gabriel to Bairstow, out Caught by Brathwaite!! Needless! He has thrown it away. The man at mid-wicket was pushed back after the previous boundary, so what does Bairstow do? He makes room to go over the off-side, the short ball once again and he plays the upper cut straight down the throat of third man
Bairstow c Holder b Gabriel 45(46) [4s-7]
ENG 95/1 (14.4) CRR: 6.48 REQ: 3.34

Holder to Root, 1 run, fifty for Root. The crowd at Southampton goes Roooootttt. Third fifty plus score for England's premier batsman. He responds to the applause with a bat raise. Opening the batting for the first time in ODIs and he has a fifty to his name. Shows the class of the player. Coming to the ball - Full and angled into the pads, flicked away to deep square leg
That big NRR edge from the Pakistan match is going to be wiped clean out today.
I tend to agree that Windies will have to win their remaining fixtures for a SF berth.
Unless we win our remaining five games, NZ and Australia will only have to win three more to finish ahead of us.
I hope Im wrong but I suspect well be competing with Pakistan for fifth place.
