Rowley, OWTU clash over money paid to Petrotrin workers
While Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley said that an average of $.5 million was paid as severance to each Petrotrin worker when the company was shut down, the Oilfields Workers Trade Union (OWTU) has accused him of distorting figures.
But in response yesterday, OWTU chief education officer Ozzi Warwick said the Rowley has again shown his disconnect from reality
The Prime Minister did not mention that 3,000 temporary and casual workers got absolutely nothing. The Prime Minister did not mention that none of the sport club workers got nothing at all. He seems very unconcern that the young workers, who were now starting their families, who had mortgages and loans, got next to nothing. So much so that their vehicles are being repossessed, some have had to seek help to save their homes and many of them have not got any job for all these months, Warwick said.
He added that because the government failed to honour payment to Petrotrins trustee, the bank is threatening to shut down the pension plan.

What is the TOTAL number of people who lost their jobs at Petrotrin - casual, permanent, temporary? Where did the PM find the 2.7 billion from especially if we were surviving on fumes? How politicians lie when they are in office!

Of course, statistics could be hatched to corroborate almost any condition. In this very forum I've paraphrased my undergrad statistics professor the very first day of class. As I recall, he said something to the effect that one has to be very careful and be prepared to question any statistical presentation since there were 3 types of lies, namely : lies, damn lies and then statistics.

Some people have not been educated to realize that it's the PNM in office, so if you have to query the management, you would have to query the PNM administration, but as soon as you do so, the uneducated PNMite call you a UNC, not realizing that the first who should query the manager's ability and performance, are the person/s responsible for hiring them,or whosoever feel/felt they were best suited for the job.
