Any watch enthusiast?

Very classic a little boring, get yourself a nice Tag. If not the Victorianox are along the same price range and great looking.
In reply to Starzz
It's Watch...noun.
Breitling, why buy any other?
Basic, but nice looking watch at a reasonable price point. @maj is right though, have a look at the Swiss-Made/Swiss movement Victorianox for the same price range.
Watches have been replaced by phones, until Apple decided their flock needed an Apple Watch... now watches are back on peoples wrist.
I wear my no maintenance watch 24/7. Scuba dive in it. Shower in it... simply put I never take it off (strange I know).
In reply to pelon
I dont bath in mine but I never leave the house without it.
Movado...a watch is simply a bracelet ...
Smartphones and your spouse tell you the time much better.
In reply to maj
I already bought the victoronix maverick, just wanted add to collection
In reply to Starzz
So you already know what you doing you just wanted to let others know you have a certain watch?
In reply to pelon
Wanted another dress watch, something a bit different from all the Movado they have here in T&T
Ayenmol
I also bought Mvmt & Daniel Wellington then learnt it was a rip off, hence the purpose of this thread.
See you still holding a grudge

In reply to Starzz
I have been looking at the MVMTs for a while the Chrono black and gunmetal are different from my Victorianox.
In reply to Starzz
Grudge about what?
In reply to Starzz
Collection?
In reply to Starzz
I haven't owned a watch in decades...my dad was a Seiko man.
...as a teen I bought a Citizen. Mostly because I preferred the low prifile... pretty expensive
Lost it...never looked back... I have been thinking about getting a good one for a while..last 5 years maybe...I share Dave400 opinion about watches as braclets... and have not seen too many I just can't do without.
But if I decide to, then this is not the place I would come, enough sites dedicated to that stuff exist.
In reply to maj
I like most Tag, but prefer the higher price points , stainless steel bands for summer and leather bands for winter.
In reply to Runs
thought you would be a man interested in marine types more than aviator's?
In reply to maj
I got caught with Mvmt minimalist design. Turns out...
You can buy same exact watch online for way less on Ali baba

I love Aviators....always have....have had an on and off desire for Marines too...face of a watch means alot...but more important is the size....the size ...depth to be exact...is never perfect.
In reply to camos
After my Tag I have to get a Raymond Weil
Maybe a Shinola.
In reply to Starzz
Oh ok..I read some of the reviews posted very poor quality.

Didn't really have much of a choice found 2 reviews on youtube but it was in Turk & Chinese I think...
The fact that your dad liked the brand tells me it is a qualltiy brand, which is really all I want. I can't say the same for some of these newer brands like Mvmt etc. I bought a guess for 120 that last less than a year.
I really don't know much about watches, just don't want to fork out US300plus and learn it is a cheap Chinese manufacturing that's really worth US25
Besides these folks took ford out my car list. Glad they did

In reply to Starzz
So you collecting garbage?
In reply to Ayenmol
Nope just preventing Maj from spending $100us for something he can buy for 25 on Alibaba
In reply to Starzz
For all you watch snobs, I wear my Apple Watch proudly, not that I dont like the other dozen or so watches I have, I wear it for the technology features.
About 20 years ago I got a cheap citizen watch as a gift. It keeps ticking away with perfect time ever since.
In reply to XFactor
Apple people are snobs..you and all the other 18 year old girls!!
Men wear watches..
In reply to maj
LOL
Historically men have always been time keepers. Time has been important to them. My apple watch is practical, reliable and functional in todays world.
Yall wear watches like its a piece of jewellery and as a man I dont have any.
I have a couple of movados and hardly wear, when I do try the batteries are usually shot
My smartwatch serves me well.
In reply to XFactor
yes it has now become somewhat a fashion statement, I do fancy a nice watch but i dont show it off.
In reply to Runs
Never liked Movado's too plain and femenine. Cant bring myself to wear a smartwatch seems redundant to having a cell phone
In reply to Runs
Funny that you mentioned that, I recently got a Movado Bold, and a couple of months later when I was ready to wear it the battery was dead.
In reply to XFactor
Dont think they keep long
In reply to maj
Rolex and Movados are good watches, but they are not high-end luxury brands. I suppose you are the type of guy who would have no problem dropping 100K on a Patek Philippe.
Movado makes "fashion watches" - simple. They are neither exquisite, or specialized. Yet, it has a solid image in the Caribbean as a "fancy watch" for many.
I choose a watch with strict criteria:
1. Scratch resistance lens. (yes, that is #1, as I never remove my watch)
2. Never needs battery (the minute you open a case, even professionally, it will never be the same, see #3)
3. Excellent Waterproof characteristics.
4. Chronograph, perpetual date are also sought after.
Rolex (high), TAG HEUER Aquaracer (mid) and Citizen/Boluva Marine Strar(low)
Any one of the above fit that criteria.
I have a Citizen E820, have to used youtube to change that darn thing every DST.
In reply to openning
Seems like you need to create a user group to help.
In reply to XFactor
No way, even if I had the money I wouldn't buy a 100k watch. Like I said a Tag or Raymong Weil are my wants.

Walk into any watch store in Trinidad and that's the first thing they try to sell you...
In reply to XFactor
A watch is of no value if i have to charge it....your smart watch is tethered to your phone anyway...so why have it?
There is a reason ileave my phone behind when i have my tablet, and whyi leave my tablet when i have my phone...i eh a woman. I ehh like to be tethered to anything or dependent...why i don't drink coffee, have drink favorites etc.
not beholden...many times i go without my phone...not always great...but whoever can wait.
Am not carrying two gadgets that do the same thing.
Watch needs to be uber stylish, Automatic and mechanical.
In reply to Runs
Rolex Submariner?
In reply to Priapus
Nice, but you can get a goodlooking Avenger or Superocean for half those, 3/4K.
In reply to Priapus
Cant see why anyone would want to spend so much for a watch unless they are well off....yes i know some of you are loaded...but i know lots of loaded people who will not put down that kind of cash for a luxury.
There are much cheaper watches that are just as dependable and well made that do not scream.....midlife crisis!
Or look at me!
Or boogie.
And there are much better things to invest in.
In reply to Ayenmol
Where in my post did i say i bought it? For me, a watch is just another clothing accessory. I wouldn't spend that much money to acquire a watch. But if somebody were to gift me an expensive watch (after the fact) then why not? I own two watches and both of them are gifts. The Bulova i wear daily, the Rolex only on special occasions.
In reply to Priapus
So why bring it up in context?
Everyone knows what Rolex is...people aint talking bout that...good for you and your Rolex gift...i would have it's authenticity checked.
Rolex are not all that beautiful anymore till you hit the 30 grand.
They are status symbols. Not something to wear willy nilly.
This is why Athletes go bankrupt....they buy Ferrari and Rolex etc and think it will always be worth alot....there are people who buy these things just to put away...those are who stand a chance of getting back something for their investment and those are the people that buyers go to when wanting to buy....everyone else just wasting money.
Then end up selling at a fraction the value.
Watches are so yesterday.
Actually, I used to like watches but with so many fakes out the, I've lost the desire to wear them.
In reply to black
That's because you want to have them as a status symbol.
A well crafted timepiece has real value...the design makes for the appeal.
When you are seeking a timepiece where the attraction is based solely on it's name, then you have to worry about what others think.
In reply to Ayenmol
A watch is a functioning piece of art, people don't buy watches to tell time anymore , every device has the time, so it has to be a fashion statement.
In reply to camos
Like I said earlier the watch has to meet my criteria.
Everyone has different criteria. You can never be bored with something you choose because YOU like it.
I never let my personal choices be determined by what i think others would like.
Then you will be sorely disappointed.
This is the same idea from that fountain pen post...when you work on something or choose something because it speaks to you. The feeling of joy is yours alone.

I have a few watches, but I have a Rado Jubile I bought maybe 10 years ago and irrespective which new watch I buy I always come back to the Rado. Now I dont even bother to take it off.
