HEADLINE: Legendary opener Haynes frustrated by CWI rejection

Windies legend Desmond Haynes has accused Cricket West Indies (CWI) of turning a cold shoulder to his aspirations of joining the regional cricket team’s coaching staff.
Haynes, once part of the most successful opening duo in West Indies cricket history, has expressed an interest in serving the regional team in the capacity of coach for the last couple of years.
Despite receiving ringing endorsements from several former legends, Haynes was first overlooked under the Dave Cameron administration when Cricket West Indies (CWI) appointed Richard Pybus. Under the new Ricky Skerrit-led association, which later pledged to use regional talent to fill vacancies, he was again overlooked as Floyd Reifer was named interim coach heading into the ICC World Cup.

We would rather go elsewhere to find people who are even less experienced and less qualified to put them in leadership position over our own. Such a shame.

we are the only team that seems to value a piece of paper that says cricket coach over the experience of people that actually played at the highest level
i'm not saying a great player will be a great coach but at least these guys could benefit from guys who actually were successful at the top level

Sometime ago I read that he was somehow connected to the Barbados Parliament.

As far as I know,Reifer is a black Bajan just like Haynes.

Does anyone know if Haynes runs an academy or is the coach of a major team in Barbados?
Which current or recent past West Indian batsman has Haynes helped to up their performance?

Craig: "I've done some research and Hope has been out bowled 4 times in his last five innings. Three of those he has played on - against NZ and SL at the WC and now India in this match. He was also out bowled against India at the WC. Hope needs to look into this."

It's so easy to join the arm chair critics but Haynes like so many of the greats does work behind the scenes to the extent that they are allowed or requested.
He has driven into his local club many a day and even now and given batting and cricket advice to young players from the tiny tots to some of the FC players. He has also been a winning club coach in the local competitions for that same club as well as being Head Coach with the Barbados Franchise.
I'll go as far as to say he is the coach who from my observation with the best capacity to dissect the art of batsmanship.
Someone like Dessie is available and make this know to the players who only have to seek them out and so it should be.
He to my mind is one of the few greats who is actually sufficiently skilled to be considered - coach, mentor, communicator, manager, winner.
