In another reshuffle in West Indies cricket, CWI president Ricky Skerritt has announced Kieron Pollard as the new ODI and T20I captain. Pollard has not played an ODI in nearly three years but CWI has decided to give him the captaincy after Jason Holder led them in the format recently in the World Cup and against India at home.

Hope this is the dawn of a new dispensation.
With the departure of the H&H axis, and its last remnant Dave Cameron,it seems the victimization of our top players is at an end and reconciliation can now continue apace.
As Gayle asked almost a decade ago "A Who De People Dem Come Fi See?"
One can only hope this is the end of the era of the egotistical, autocratic and overbearing administrators who apparently believed it was all about them so they competed with the players for the spotlight.
If we must lose let us at least give ourselves the best chance of competing by at all times selecting our best possible teams, without regard to the passport.

Just forking great" Now we got to deal with this horse face pelting c.nt again. All we need now is the hyena big bravo and sir nose sammy. No island forkup and embarrassed the west indies more than these brainless swiping, pelting TT" c"nts. Recycling this Johnny" instead of budding! young talent and building a team. A dry drunk like Ske,rot.

What kind of fcukrey is this? The guy is not good enough to make the World Cup squad, but you turn around and make him captain? Prediction: Skerritt will be buried in a shallow grave for this idiocy Welcome to the dawn of the traffic cop captaincy folks, not seen since Darren Ganga was at the helm briefly

Man it is official now. I jump on AUS bandwagon. Its too hard to watch this nonsensical charade - even a selection of Pooran as ODI skipper I coulda a swallow.

Entirely appropriate to have Pollard as WI T20 captain.
His record in that form of the game makes sense in that form of the game
Polands ODI record is poor and doesnt warrant selection on the current ODI team. So once again, CWI appoints a specialist captain
Youd think theyd learn by now.

"Jason Holder was called by me yesterday morning and we spoke," Skerritt said at the press conference while sitting next to Pollard and other CWI officials.
Holder will now compete for a place in Pollad's team and use this as an opportunity to become a better cricketer
No call to Braffit?

In reply to CaribbeanCricket.com well it appears that names were put into a hat and Pollard was the lucky one to be drawn. When I think I have seen and heard everything the WICB comes up with a new gimmick. Incredible to name someone captain of the West Indies team in two formats when they have not been selected on the team and is a fill in captain for Dwayne Bravo in the CPL.

Change was needed, it is going to bring new energy to the team, Holder had a long run, time for a new leader, I would have prefer to give it to a regular member of the team, but apart from Hope there are none that could justify being in that position.

Looks like CWI is trying to determine how effective is JHo's captaincy. Replace him with someone who is less likely to win in one case (Polly in ODIs), and less likely to lose in the other (Polly in T20s), and see what happens.
If Polly wins more matches then JHo's leadership was poor. If Polly does not win more then no captain will make a difference. If Polly loses much more, then JHo will be welcome back to the captaincy.
Anyway, this should be good for both Polly and JHo. Polly has a great opportunity to "give back" to WI cricket and fans, and JHo gets a "time out" to study captaincy from the outside - to learn more, or to decide if captaincy is really for him.

As much as you would like to, you cannot in good faith deny the good vibes the region is feeling with the new dispensation and this is in-spite of the recent set back at the world cup.
