HEADLINE: Lloyd supports Pollard's appointment

Former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd says appointing Kieron Pollard as T20 and One Day International captain was a good choice by Cricket West Indies (CWI).

Speaking from his UK base, Lloyd told The Gleaner that he wholeheartedly supports the decision and that it was a good move at the right time for the West Indies, who needed someone with much more experience.

"Pollard's appointment was the best thing that Cricket West Indies could do right now, he has tons of experience playing all over the world and you can see in his leadership now in the CPL, that he is well-respected and he certainly will do a good job for the West Indies," outlined Lloyd.

Big PU-C agrees with everything these days wink

Cameron had fired him and made him Ambassador at large...then a few weeks after Cameron quietly dropped the Ambassador title and Big PU-C has been left at large sincewink

It's really sad tho.

He is a legend on the cricket field. No one can take that away.

Retirement has not been kind to him.

So was it Lloyd's poor judgement or was it a poor performance by Holder in the captaincy position? I would say that everyone was hoping that Holder would have been more inspirational and tactical as a leader, being a good and smart speaker.

Chrissy 2019-09-10 21:16:15

Deading wid laugh - same Lloyd said they should keep Holder after that disgraceful team performance at the WC.

jacksprat 2019-09-10 23:03:49

Lloyd has long mortgaged his credibility at the altar of expediency. When he appointed the green Jason Holdet to the the captaincy he claimed to have "seen" something in the youthful Holder. Now 5 YEARS LATER he supports jettisoning the same Holder for someone with more "experience".

Lloyd is a joker!

How can anyone trust anything that comes out of Lloyd's mouth, since he seems to speak out of both sides of it?

azadtnt 2019-09-12 02:39:29

With all due respect, Lloyd is only human like all of us. It was said and its in the past lets move on. I think appointing Pollard as white ball captain was long over due. I do believe he will make a difference with his leadership on/off the field. Now is time to select the right coaching and management staff to support the players. I wish them all the best.

My initial thoughts were, wow he speaks too quickly

Was there any need to pick a white ball captain before de end of the CPL?

azadtnt 2019-09-12 12:58:14

White ball is not limited to just t20 but also odi. CPL has nothing to do with selecting a captain due to the years of experience already established. Pollard is arguably without a doubt the best and correct choice. It is now time to surround the players with the proper management team (selectors, coaches, trainers, medical staff) to support and enhance their game.

Good question, but there are no other captains on display in the CPL that could be considered to captain the WI team.

Wud your statement still stand if a WI captain other dan Pollard won de CPL
