HEADLINE: Reads and Best call for Desmond Haynes to have a role

In an article by David Harris published in Barbados Today, Tino Best and Reds Perreira come out in support of CWI finding a role for WI legend Desmond Haynes, even though they acknowledge the head coach job will likely go to Phil Simmons.
"Desmond was an exceptional opener, one of the greatest we have produced. He coached in England and South Africa and had a stint as batting coach with the West Indies team a few years ago, but this is a different era. Desmond may be old school in his thinking. Some of our cricketers who are earning millions of dollars are not going to be inspired by Fire in Babylon. I could be wrong but that is my opinion. We are dealing with a different breed of cricketer. If a coach has an old school mentality, he is going to quickly lock horns with these young cricketers. It is very important that a coach be open-minded. A coach should evolve with the times. I am not sure Desmond has done so because he has not been employed as coach for a while," Best is quoted as saying.

haynes i actually think and I've expressed this numerous times on this chat.........would be an ideal batting coach. He was the most technically correct of all our 80s stars. I would have him as head coach at an academy for the simple reason that it is difficult to correct technical issues at this level.......which many of our batsmen unfortunately have

I posted this before and I will do so again. CWI boxed itself into a corner. The qualifications were written in such a way to suit one person. Foreign companies in the Caribbean do it all the time to obtain Work Permits.
Based on qualification #1, Desmond Haynes does not qualify. If they appoint him now due to outside pressure then they will be disregarding their own requirements. What a mess.
Experience Required
Demonstrated track record as a world class coach and man-manager, as evidenced by previous coaching and team results achieved over an extended period of time.
Sound practical experience in developing elite players and globally competitive teams.
At least five (5) years experience as a professional cricket Coach.
While international coaching experience is highly desirable, candidates who have coached at the first-class level will also be considered for this position.
Experience in communicating effectively, respectfully, and responsibly to West Indies cricket stakeholders directly, or via the media, would be an asset.

that would be so disingenuous!!! why let a man go so far in the process as to be in the final 3 if he isnt qualified?

dont know which of the candidate meet this requirement.
on the whole the requirements are badly written and strictly interpreted none appear to meet all the first 3 must haves and on the face of it Simmons only met 1- 5 years experience
