Pooran banned for 4 T20Is

West Indies batsman Nicholas Pooran has been banned from four T20Is after being found guilty of attempting to change the condition of the ball during West Indies' third ODI against Afghanistan on Monday.

Pooran admitted the charge, which deals with a breach of level 3 of the ICC's Code of Conduct, and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Chris Broad. He had violated Article 2.14 of the code, which relates to "changing the condition of the ball" after video footage showed him scratching the surface of the ball with his thumbnail.

What the hell was he thinking? Is this really a one off, or is it symptomatic of a serious character flaw? After all, they were winning the damn series hands down.
Pooran is a tremendous talent, and if it is more than a one off, then some counseling might be in order.

How does a tampered ball help Pooran? How does a bowler make use of a tampered ball if he is not aware that the state of the ball has been altered? Who was bowling at the time when Pooran tampered with the ball?

I am always intrigued when any cricketer who does not bowl tamper with the ball. Take the Bancroft case for example...............

Collusion. Just as guilty. Might even turn out to have been the instigator.

I am bemused by this. Dem dumb batsmen must realize the bowlers aren't being caught and banned.

anthonyp 2019-11-13 14:27:50

The sad part is our current bowlers hardly do anything with the ball even if the conditions perfect for swing, seam or reverse swing.. so why de rass yuh wasting time to dig the ball up? lol

We really turn the corna.. got a legend for captain, ah miracle man for coach and now a specialist ball scratcher.. Number 1 here we come! lol

I hope this does not turn into another Australia where a few senior players direct a younger to do the cheating ...

Pooran would have had to take a machete to one side of that ball for a WI bowler to make it reverse swing.

Ball tampering, as in this case, is not isolated to a single individual knowing about it.

in the Aussie case it was a well orchestrated thing...

they did say the fast bowlers were not aware...lol

just funny the fast bowlers wouldnt see sand paper marks

Cheating to win against Afghanistan.Wow!

XFactor 2019-11-13 16:37:21

Dunno how they could defend the bowlers from any illegal involvement. The ball scuffing is usually done by fielders with bowlers fully knowing what's going on.
