Rakheem Cornwall's SIZE..........

LBW375 2019-11-28 00:06:57

We promised to speak about his size too, so here's a considered opinion on what it means for Cornwall to be how many ever stones heavy: it doesn't matter.

Here comes the Secretary of Bajan Defense again. Once a Man performing, I think size is irrelevant.

Ok, I must admit that that is history. wink

Ok let us put this baby to rest:

Lambert is a batsman who averaged 28.1 batting in the top 6. How was he supposed to get selected with that average? Lambert benefited from havinga very experienced group of players around him: Hinds, Bernard, Baugh, Gayle etc. so that helped Jamaica's success in the FC arena.

When did Lambert perform? They shoulda pick him as a specialist captain?

Actually the Jamaican team usually performed better when Hinds, Gayle and a few other were NOT on the team. Tere were a few times when the JA team would be winning and when Hinds returned from tour he would replace Lambert as captain and the team would promptly start losing.

When WI decided to have a specialist captain (Sammy) any way why not the most successful captain in the region was the question then...

Hants 2019-11-28 19:06:05

Cornwall could benefit from a Bob Kersee maybe ?

" It was during his unexpected vacation that Fuhr hooked up with
Kersee, the husband and coach of Jackie Joyner-Kersee, who holds
the world record in the heptathlon. In addition to prescribing a
stretching and conditioning regimen, Kersee cast a critical eye
on Fuhr's diet. He outlawed fatty foods and instructed his
client to drastically reduce his between-meal snacks: the graham
crackers, the chips and dips, which Fuhr admits he was in the
habit of consuming, usually in front of the boob tube, with
Conehead-like gusto and efficiency.

It worked. Fuhr's face, once cherubic, is much narrower, his
features much sharper. But never mind Fuhr's face--Keenan has
empirical proof of Fuhr's newfound leanness. Like a commodities
broker brandishing a crop report, he holds up a sheet of paper.
It is the latest breakdown of each player's body-fat content.
"Grant has gone from 20 percent to 12.1," says Keenan.

Let us put this baby to rest too. When Sammy was appointed Captain vs Sri Lanka his bowling average was sub 28 ( 27.7cool. So to say that he was appointed as a specialist captain is a bit misleading.

Lambert captained the team to 3 straight wins, Hinds came back and lost 3 straight.

Cornwall FC average: (bat) 24.07 (bowl) 24.29

Lambert FC average: (bat) 28.12 (bowl) 25.68

If Cornwall can be given a chance on those FC stats, Lambert should've been too....

Your argument would hold better had it not been for their batting positions. Cornwall bats at 7 while Lambert batted at 5 therefore Cornwall is a bowling allrounder while Lambert is a batting allrounder.

Post how many FC wickets Lambert has vs Cornwall.

voiceofreason 2019-11-29 00:02:14

99 fc Matches Lambert has 76 wickets 25.86 ave 59.7 s/r.

56 fc Matches Cornwall has 263 wkts 24.29 ave/ 50.29 s/r

Clearly Cornwall is a bowler who bats while Lambert vice versa. Add to that he is a prolific strike bowler
seventeen 5 wkt hauls, and thirteen 4 wkt hauls.

We can hide behind the numbers but fact remains that he was never a frontline bowler or batsman with no captaincy pedigree to speak about when appointed as captain. He had one good outing which skewed his numbers at the time of appointment. He ended with an average of 35 with the ball and 23 with the bat.

Lambert, while similar with numbers at FC level, had a Strong captaincy record.

Cornwall as a player has produced results with the bat and ball. So I supported him to be included in the WI side.

Lambert as a captain produced results. So when there was a captaincy crisis and there was a need for a captain to lead the WI Side I supported him over Darren Sammy / Reifer who were the choices then.

Both the situations people who were hell bent to deny them an opportunity due to their physical appearance. Cornwall might have his biggest test when he meets better teams still he deserved a look in just as Lambert was then.

Why folks comparing the Wall with all these shythounds before? They all didn't start their careers that size and had the figures of RC. No comparison.
